This took me four days and plenty of tears to write.
It has a lot more meaning that anyone on VT except one person can understand.
I'm sorry..... but I have to.... ): you know why...

Darling clear your eyes,
the sky is as dark as night
just take a deeper look.
A billion butterflies have taken flight.

As the dust at your feet
becomes a coat a snow
butterflies fall from the black sky.
Oh, where did the sun go?

You catch them in your hands,
as tears fall to the ground.
One hundred butterflies, dieing tonight,
cascading without a sound.

You start to sink into the earth
as it pools black around you.
The snow flakes fall, and melt away
leaving a glittery residue.

Butterflies should know better
than to stick around too long.
When a heart changes its mind,
the warmth is all gone.

So as the blizzard grows strong
they get pelted with hail.
They flew to show their love,
not knowing that they would fail.

You feel like you're blind
in the darkness of the day
The air holds a pain
that you have never felt this way

If "seeing is believing"
how's that fair to the blind?
Tear my senses apart
and leave believing behind.

Like Diamonds they fall
so priceless in the snow
You'll crush a butterfly
if you don't let go.

So as they pile against you
and the sun shines in your eyes
The glitter from their wings
blink out their whispered goodbyes.

Look around, and the world is charred
from the flames withing their hearts.
But the blazing fires get extinguished
once the cold days start.

You scream in silence
with your mouth shut tight.
You don't know what's going on
but in your heart it feels tight.

Through the curtain of black
I stand without a sound
you reach out your hand
I sigh and turn around.

The storm is over, and alas
the last butterfly sighs
The glitter on its wings
pour into the sun in your eyes.

You squit against the rays
and try not to cry
so, darling dry your tears
every winter butterflies die.

As the Earth sets you free
With shaking hands and knees
You stand up and wave goodbye
to the very last butterfly.

Beautiful, as many have said. I'm glad you could express your feellings so eloquently through writing. It heals.

P.S. I've always loved the butterfly as a symbol.
