Should there be an option to delete threads we made that we dont want to see anymore? Or if we made one by accident and didnt want to should we have to option to do that? I think we should have the option to delete threads that we made and it could be for any reason.

Too complicated.
What if another person has posted in that thread, and their post count goes up. When you delete it, not only do you have to actually delete it - you've to reduce the post counts.
It's possible I'd imagine. But difficult.

they dont atually lose the post count for the post
they just lose the post

Why would you need to
jsut report the first post with why you want it gone and let the mods do their job

Why not let members have more freedom without having to depend on Mods for everything on here?

Wonder.

I'm going to quote someone here that replied in a thread with almost the same question.

Just because you are done with it doesn't mean everyone else is.

(Came from a thread about being able to lock threads)

I agree with this idea. I think we should also be able to lock it. A lot of things that should be reported but aren't go un noticed by mods. If a mod feels the topic was unnecessarily locked, they can unlock it.

Also, some people regret creating the topics after they've been created. Either because they feel the topic is unnecessary, it's a stupid question, or it's getting a lot of hate.

Being the OP, I think you should be able to lock it when you want.

Wonder.

The power would be abused by many users. It also would look bad if you had 30 locked threads in two pages.

A mod can unlock it if they feel the need. And look at some of the pages, half of the threads get locked so what is the difference between mods and the OP locking it?

It's not going to happen, so I see no point in arguing. This question is asked about every week.

Wonder.

It's not half of them and like I said, it wouldn't be used correctly. People will think that since they got their answer from one person they can lock it. Sure mods can unlock it but that puts even more work on their desk.

Vogue: I agree and I also see this every week. I just felt like putting my last penny into this.

If you look back on older pages, there are plenty locked threads. It wouldn't put no more work on there desk then there already is. It would just be like locking it. And how hard is it to click the mouse?

Say what you want, I don't have any power.
At least, not on here.

I just think people need to get used to the way it is.
If you post a thread you're unhappy with, edit it all out, ask a moderator to lock it, and it'll be forgotten.
No harm done.

And there are locked threads because new members keep bumping old threads.

Whats the point, after a few weeks the thread will go onto another page. Month its pages behind. If you "make it by accident" report it *your own post at the start of the thread* and ask a mod to lock it/delete. Locking is the next best thing to deleting. And mods will be ever so happy to lock threads when requested by the OP.

Bingo.

To my knowledge, there is no way to allow members to delete or lock things unless you're a diary owner and it's in your diary.

Even if we could do it, the privilege would get abused; Someone could post something that was against site rules, (ie.: Porn, bashing or posts of a trolling nature) and delete it before any staff member even saw it.

If you don't want to have to have a moderator delete or lock something, then I suggest you think about what you're saying before you post.

True. I'm so sick and tired of seeing bumped threads because of the new members. An the mods jeep saying they'll be infracted if they keep doing it and they don't want to listen. Yeah i may have bumped a few threads with the first week maybe three or two but I never seen it like this. And I seen like two trolls already. If I see my threads bumped I'll be pissed off and that's another reason why I want to lock or delete my own threads. And wouldn't it save mods time instead of losing it because we Locked our own thread? Just saying.
