I've noticed there's 4 members with 2 red blocks for rep. When hovered over, instead of saying "*username* is infamous around these parts", it just says their username.
When did this become possiable?

It's always been possible not many people have gotten that much rep before until kinda recently is all.

The double red block? I think that's the lowest possible level you can have for rep. Not sure why it just says the username now.

Hmmm.. I do remember a few people who had them a few years ago

So basically because there's enough members with absurdly high rep powers neg-repping noobs who are being annoying/rude?

Nope, there is no limit to how high or low rep can get. Negative rep works just like positive rep, eventually you get so many red blocks that they get brighter. As far as just showing their username, it's because no admin has written up anything for that level of reputation.

Even though I'm against the negative reputation, they either learn now or be hated.

actually there are a few. Go to Community -> Members List -> Sort by Reputation -> sort from least to greatest
and think of it lyke a number line...I mean why would it be any different? Of course it's the same. It's been possible forever, but now more people have higher rep power, so "damage" is done faster.

We all know who it is.
After this monstrosity of a thread http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=64273 were the OP (who has double reds) clearly pissed off everyone in ROTW.
There is a reason behind everything and even for having off the charts bad rep. Im not bashing the guy but if you are here for TWO DAYS and lost that much rep you really messed up.

see that bothers me
I think the members who've been here awhile should have more patience with new members
Just as myself and other had patience for them
Rather than "crushing" them so to speak with this rep block system

Never said it was good, its just what happens.
I say we reset the rep system, kinda pointless nowadays it seems

It shouldn't exist period and this is exactly why.
This is not what VT was created for.

Earning rep is fun, but getting neg repped for absurd reasons (ie just didn't say anything about the first post, when I've simply forgotten to do it) is just stupid.

If you receive negative reputation for a post that did not deserve it, report it to one of the admins and they'll take care of it. I'm agreeing with Kodie completely on this, but times change. True, this was not what VT was made for, but the site can't stay the same forever.

They'll take care of it if they think that it was justified. Basically it's just a second opinion, if you think it's inappropriate or wrong for some reason it doesn't mean that the admins will remove it.

You misunderstand. The admins will ask the necessary questions and remove it if said reputation was wrongly given/received. It's not a second opinion.

I won't get into my personal experience with wrongly given -rep, but I disagree. They don't seem to take all things into consideration.

It's sad that someone could take something the wrong way or make a mistake and then have those red rep blocks, which imply that you aren't a smart poster and that your posts are unhelpful.
It's odd that people who could not be in the best move or have good judgement (anyone with high rep) can affect someone's rep so much. Why even have it?
Why does it have to be like this? Because Kiros didn't know how negative it could be.

It's just rep why do people take it so seriously. I use to back when barely anyone had more than 3 or 4 blocks but now that everyone has it it's not really something that should make you happy or sad. I think people should just get over it.
