I would like to start off by saying, I'm not sure where this thread should be, I chose music because iPods are related to that but please move if necessary.
Anyways, I just jailbroke my iPod yesterday and it's awesome!
Have you jailbroken yours and what do you like the most about it over normal apple software or hate about it?

Jailbreaking allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to run unofficial code on their devices bypassing Apple's official distribution mechanism, the App Store. Once jailbroken, iPhone/iPod touch users are able to download many applications previously unavailable through the App Store via unofficial installers such as Cydia, Rock App, Icy, and Installer. It also lets users run themes, and change the look and feel of the iPod.
Thats what it is... I did have my ipod touch and iphone jailbrocken. But i got sick of the battery running out so effing fast. So I undid it.

Nah, Im happy with the apps I have now, and there can't be THAT much you can do with a jailbroken ipod that you cant without jailbraking it.... plus the name sorta creeps me out.... I don't want jail, nor my ipod to be broken... :S lol

It acutely really easy... But it voids the warranty (if you have any) on it. :P

i have my jalbroken and love it. i would recommend doing it if YOU DONT HAVE THE WARRANTY! if you do have a warranty and it break for example, if it falls on the floor and its jailbroken and you try to connect it to the comp and it wont work, you take it to apple to get it fixed, theyll take it and say "sorry we cant fix it." theyll give it back and then you have to spend another 200 dollars. jailbreaking voids the warranty. DONT DO IT IF YOU HAVE A WARRANTY!!!! there are many good reasons why to jailbreak. you get themes sounds all kinds of cool things that apple wont do. i did it basically for the themes and sounds. and to watch flash videos and to download stuff that apple wont let you. Really do this. you will be able to do so much more. DONT DO IT IF YOU HAVE THE WARRANTY!! DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR? haha lol.
if the name creeps you out, dont let it. Jalbreaking means to "break me out from apples jail." which means apple has the OS locked up and only can do certain things. like the iphone 2g. It cant do mms right? Wrong it can. you download an app on cydia that lets you mms on the 2g iphone. it is capable of doing mms but apple wont let it. mms is in "jail" on the 2g iphone. so you jailbreak so you can do it. now you just "broke out mms on the 2g iphone from apples jail." Does that make it a little more clear?
anyway i wouldnt live without my ipod being jailbroken. haha.
a little tip, if your ipod or iphone is jailbroken and on warranty, i highly recommend and or suggest restoring to be on the safe side.

I did with my old one but then I got a new one and then I tried and it didn't work and I didn't want to try again because I remembered how slow it went and how many times it crashed. I really do miss it. But it would only make me do illegal things again.
