The social somethingorother that says people can't wear certain things.
For instance. My brother left to New York and left abunch of awesometastic anime style clothes here. I trenchcoat, some crazy tops, and two skirts. Yes, that's right, skirts. But they're fucking badass!!!! They just go from your wait to around ankle/floor length and I so wish I could wear them!!! But GAHHH!!! DAMN YOU AMERICA!!! Aghh!!! *flips the table and slams the door*

I wouldn't bother with the skirts.
I don't think wearing them anywhere would be acceptable.

If girls can wear jeans, why can't guys wear skirts? I mean seriously? Can you get a little sexist? Yeesh.

You'd be surprised.
Eh, it's not a big deal but they really are fucking awesome.

The first pair of pants for women were called "pantaloons" or something for comfort. It led on from there.
I have yet to see that for skirts and men.
Besides traditional or cultural stylings. Maybe there has been. I don't know.
And I fail to see how that's sexist. I was pointing out the fact that I don't think any countries would accept a man walking around in a fucking skirt.

I have seen it all now. :P

Relax, maybe sexist is a little strong a word for me to use. However it still stands. Girls wearing pants a few 50 or so years ago was considered 'wrong' and 'shameful'. Isn't it the same for men wearing skirts? If they really want to, why shouldn't they? It's their choice, is it not?

I personally don't care, ma'am, but there are always people who do.

Like I said I don't care. But judgements will be made, especially on something like this. An instance in which a male does something that we see for females, and vice versa. You said yourself, it's frowned upon. But times change, and soon, men wearing skirts will be as common as women wearing jeans.
Our generation is going through a change, just like the generation of women who began to wear pants. It's the same idea, but the standards are higher for them to meet.

males wearing skirts is def out of the norm her, but in certain countries or situations pretty much anything is acceptable, alot of high fashion designers who include males as part of their runway will have them dress in what is typically seen as female clothing
but ya, dress how u want, just be prepared to deal with ridicule/judgment if you dress out of the norm in your particular area
but fashion depends on constantly re-defining the norm, so i think some people judge a little to harshly :/

There's nothing alpha or even remotely masculine about wearing a skirt.

Must...resist.... This, is, SPARTAAA.
I tried. I really did.
Anyway, I have to agree, I've seen some fucking awesome skirts out there. Problem is, unlike with women wearing jeans where it was men who said they couldn't, we'd have to go against our own gender, and being men, we all want to be the top dog.
In other words, we're not gonna be able to wear skirts and not get ridiculed for a LONG time.
Although, you could wear a scottish kilt. Not the same, but people are far less likely to ridicule you for it. My mate wore one to prom and no-one even raised an eyebrow.
