So my current SeaGate external is pretty much full of my miscellaneous files and I'm looking to buy a new one. I'm looking for one that's about 650GB in size, but I'd like to know some companies OTHER than SeaGate since my current external had crashed and I couldn't recover the files.

Integral.
Westerm Digital.
Hama.
Toshiba.
Lg.
PNY.
Sony (Growl)
They're all reliable, but some are better than others. You should try a 1t hard drive, I had one but it got full then a virus.

Very true. I got a 1TB WD hard drive and it's great! Super fast and all. It's the most reliable compared to the other two in the house - I think they're Toshiba ones and they crash a lot.

Western Digital. I've had a 500GB one for our desktop for a year, never had a single problem.
I actually just bought a Seagate 320GB for my laptop, but I haven't used it yet, so I can't comment.

Simpletech drives have been horrible in my experiences..... died after like 1 month
I would say Western Digital
My dad has had a WD 200 GB external for like 6 years now... always on, still goin strong.

Found two that are just to my liking. Another SeaGate (:|) and a Western Digital. I'm leaning towards the Western Digital since it seems to be very popular around here. Thanks for the help guys.

I always recommend Western Digital, all of my WD hard drives have always lasted years longer than the others.

Same here! Western Digital pricing is reasonable too. :D

Planning on buying a 1TB WD soon.
Is it USB Powered?
I need it to be USB powered.
