For a while now, I've been REALLY REALLY wanting to get the new iPod Nano. I have the money, but I just needed to ask some questions about it.

First, does it live up to all the hype with all the new things on it, like FM, the video camera, etc.?

Secondly, a 16GB is what I really need, so would this be a smart choice to get as much space as I can?

Last, will it be worth it in the long run? I don't want to buy a new iPod and find out it's a piece of shit. Seeing as how my current iPod is three years old (a 3rd Gen Nano), it's held pretty good.

Why not get an iTouch?

Why not just get a off brand mp3 player. What makes the I pod so special?

I totally agree... Just get something that plays music if that's all you want it for.

I think the new Nano is totally worth it by how it looks in the commercials. I don't know anyone who's got one but you could go search for reviews and feedback from people who have gotten it.

My mom bought one a while ago. It is very good; very good screen, FM radio, very good video camera (does not take pictures, only video), and very thin. And $150 for the 8GB isn't bad.

Lol, Zune. I've had a Zune player before and I just can't stand them. Too bulky to really be unnoticeable in my pocket.

You know, I actually used to have an off brand mp3 player. Broke within a month after getting it. It was RCA Opal. It was great, no doubt, but it broke. I made sure to take good care of it. I never tossed it around or anything, just gave it great care. iPods aren't THAT special. I'm just more used to the convience. I don't know, maybe it's just a personal preference of mine. Plus, I've always loved the Nanos.

Because I have TV shows and rented movies on my iPod now. I don't use it JUST to play music although that is one of the reasons I use it. I also understand that Zune, the last I checked, can do the same. But you can see my reasons above.

Why not get an iTouch?

Good suggestion Jake, but I've looked around and I don't think the iTouch would really work out for me personally.

I've read a few outstanding reviews for it actually, that's why I want one. I'll do some more searching for any cons later on.

Well, I'm really looking for a 16GB one since this is a major improvement since my music library is rather big. I can't tell you the many times I've had to literally pick and choose which albums I wanted on my current iPod. I'm looking to buy it from WalMart (where I usually buy my electronics) and the new 16GB 5th Gen is $175, which is just inside my price range.

Thanks for the help everyone, really appreciate it.

I have one Matt. I love it.
And the video camera has amazing picture and sound quality. Very handy.

Strange, since all the electronics I buy at WalMart are actually cheaper. I don't order anything online, namely since I don't have any gift cards or a credit card to use. I'm looking at Best Buy right now and...they are WAY cheaper than WalMart. They're selling the same for just $164, not too bad.
