i think it would benefit me and others if there a VT mobile site that we could use on our phone. something more convenient.

It's not very easy (or cheap) to create a mobile site, and thus not feasible.

Well as far as I'm aware Vt is already available on advanced internet phones. Like Iphones.
I think you have to upload a mirror mobile site. Which I'm guessing is expensive.

I agree with Mike! But everyon can have their own opinion:)

Use Vt on your phones browser. It sucks but that's the only option. A specifically designed site for a phone would cost money we don't have and would be unnecessary, as Mike so eloquently put it.

No, this isn't a very good idea. And plus, the best way to use VT mobile is to use an ipod touch, iphone and other pocket computer phones like that that have browsers.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone has a smartphone or iPod Touch. A mobile site would be good, but as others have said, it isn't very feasible, as most people who use the site access it from computer.

Itd be cool if we had an iphone format to use but I am not sure of how that would work...

I use VT on my Iphone all the time, I actually use it for most posting, but not for important stuff. Works just like I'm on a computer, except I can't use flashchat, but that doesn't exist any more.

Now this is something I can do.

Mobile style and detection is installed. Now when you load VT via a mobile device, it should automatically change your normal forum style to the mobile one.

Tell me what you think and if you have any problems with it let me know.

ok so just five minutes ago i was on my ipod and i was PISSED THE HELL OFF!!!! MORE THAN HALF OF THE FEATURES ARE GONE!!!! i just had to go on my laptop. fix it please or make a button that says switch to desktop. The layout was gross (sorry im ranting) too confusing, everything was too close together, a mobile site is suppose to fit to screen (this didnt) if you can prove me wrong because i am not happy with the mobile site so far.

and i know it will take time. dont make a six paragraph report of how long it will take to be good.

Mobile sites are mainly for cell phones where it does look and fit good it wasn't confusing to me if you don't like it then just use it on your laptop or cope with it.

I think there should be an option to switch between the two...I think its very important otherwise id rather have full site compatability

Chill out ok? I asked for feedback and if there are dislikes adjustments can be made. It isn't necessary to act like the world is suddenly coming to an end.

I've noticed that once you're in the mobile theme, there is no way out.
There's no setting anywhere that I could find, even the UserCP didn't have ANY options even closely related to theme changing.

Add an option to get out of that theme perhaps?

I'm using this right now out of plain curiosity and I can't change the skin back to Black And Gold. Anyone know where to change this? There's no quick access to change the skins that I can find :/

The best thing you can do at the moment is log out and back in.

yeah if you read my other post i said i was sorry and i asked him if it was different on other devices. cause on my ipod it wasnt good in my opinion. it loads faster but it misses a lot of features that i would like to see. yeah go back up a little and read my second response. i was actually asking if it worked good for him cause it didnt for me. i gave my feedback. i might have been mean or whatever but if you read more, you wouldve been like oh i didnt see that. now you know how i feel when people are posting negative things. like on my IM CHAT bar idea that you were complaining about. and i said sorry. just read my other response i made.

Wonder.
January 13th, 2010, 11:02 PM
Log out and log back in doesn't work on an iPod. Or at least for me. I like this but it's missing a lot of features. I realize this was just made but when you get the time you should add features and a way to switch from mobile to desktop. It does work well though.

EDIT: You cannot see links. That is a rather big problem.

You guys understand that the mobile site is supposed to be simple, but efficient. It's not going to be for chatting to people or really much else besides posting.
That's what a mobile site is for, the basics efficiently.

Later today or tomorrow I'll work on this a bit more. I'll try to check out other styles and make sure these mobile skins are optional. I have no way to test these things since I don't have internet on my phone or an iPod.

I'll see what I can do to make everybody happy.

Using the mobile skin is optional now. If a user wants to use the mobile skin they will have to select it on the Footer of the page.

Not a problem. Had I known so many people used their phones or iPods to access here I would have done it sooner.

As nice as this is, there is no option to revert BACK to a skin from this one. I tried it out a few days ago and had to log out then log back in because of it. I like this one since it's a more bare bones sort of style, but there should be a skin changer at the footer of the page for those who use regular computers/laptops.

Maverick
January 15th, 2010, 08:10 PM
Its no longer forced to use that style on a mobile device. If you're currently stuck on it, just log out and once you log back in, you will be on your normal style.
