View Full Version : Rules applying to blogs

Is there anything anywhere that specifically gives guidelines and rules as to what is acceptable content for blogs?. Personally I would like it to be rule that you should not ask questions in a blog that obviously belong in a forum (thinking mainly of the sexual questions that get asked in there, it would be good to be able to report these as inappropriate to a blog).
I'm also confused as to how the rule on "encouraging illegal activity" is interpreted. It seems wholey inappropriate to me to have members writing up accounts of illegal sexual activities and yet this is going unchecked. Why is this?

Blogs aren't really look at as much as the main forums. The same rules apply there however people can still ask ANY question they want even if they do belong in the forums. If someone is posting a list of illegal activity or whatever then report it so a member of the senior staff can see it and take it down. Illegal activity isn't permitted anywhere on this forum and the blogs are no exception.

Tom, that's not an honest answer. You know full well what I'm referring to in the blogs and one of your fellow mods made a joke about it in reply to the blog post. The same mod has recently posted a thread about how site rules about graphic content are to be observed. What's going on here?

Excuse me? I have no clue what you're talking about I'm not inside of your head so either report it so a senior staff member can take care of it or leave it alone.

I'm asking for a clarification of the rules for the benefit of all members, not for some private discussion in the mod's forum.
Is it acceptable for someone to write up an account of their sex life when its clearly illegal. Bestialilty is more-or-less universaly illegal I believe? What rules apply?

I've tried that, there is no feedback. I think my question is fair.

Only the senior staff have control over the blogs why not pm them?

Its not just the blogs, its the shoutbox, user signature, everywhere. What rules are being applied? If the next guy's signature says "my gf is 6 years old" and blogs his sex life with her will that be OK? This is illegal and gross, why is it being tolerated?

So you're making a thread to single out one person and embarrass him in front of the entire site instead of pming a member of the senior staff and have this handled appropriately? Like I said before REPORT IT and we'll discuss it but if you're not going to do that then stop complaining and get over it. If we do decide to discipline the person in any way we wouldn't tell you?

You have made me get more specific by pretending not to know what I was talking about. My question is fair, so far you have made no attempt to answer it. How are the blog entries, shoutbox entries, etc, consistent with site rules on illegal activities?

The majority of them are. The ones that slip through the cracks are eventually dealt with

Feel free to PM me any blog entries you find objectionable and I will address each one of them. If blogs are getting out of control no doubt something will be done about it. Thanks.

I said the same rules apply everywhere on the forum and at first i had no clue what you were talking about so i told you to just report it. To make sure you really get it I'll say it three more times.
THE SAME RULES APPLY EVERYWHERE ON THE SITE
THE SAME RULES APPLY EVERYWHERE ON THE SITE
THE SAME RULES APPLY EVERYWHERE ON THE SITE
Are you getting it now or should I dumb it down for you.
The rules in the faq up there at the top you know that tell us exactly what is acceptable and what isn't have to be followed everywhere on the site.
Do you get it now?

Sorry, no. Shouting and answering me in a rude manner does nothing to answer the question. Somebody is persistenly and very openly posting, in some detail, illegal activity. Flouting it in the shoutbox. I have read the site rules. I believe this contravenes and has been going on for months. Why?

Content that encourages illegal activities, such as warez and illegal drug use, including any links to such illegal activities are strictly prohibited.
Saying you're doing something is different than telling people to do it, people post about smoking weed all the time but we don't stop it because they aren't promoting it. So you see you're arguing something that isn't even against the rules. If you don't like it then just ignore it or get past it instead of complaining.

I wasnt complaining, I was querying. So if some pedo wants to blog his affair with a 6 year old that will be ok then?
My question wasnt specific, it was about what rules apply to blogs, no one has made any attempt to answer. Anything goes then, providing you're not suggesting someone else should do the same?

If a pedo came on talking about having sex with a 6 year old then I'm pretty sure that person will be banned for the safety of this site and the members. I'm not answering your question about the blogs because if you read my other posts you'll find it.

"In addition, do not post stories about sex or masturbation unless it strictly pertains to you getting help. Any types of explicit content is not allowed."
Please explain how this is being applied

Why is staff not doing something about this? Thomas, you need to check the guy's blog instead of pulling the rules out. THIS IS BEASTIALITY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. It is highly illegal and he needs to be banned for talking about it and giving an account. ANYTHING that is constituted illegal, such as sexual relations with an animal, is against the rules. But instead of looking at the blog for evidence, you just sit there and type over and over again about the rules.
If you were really enforcing these rules, then you would be doing so at almost every possible corner. How could something like THIS get through the cracks? Many people have seen his blog, how could they NOT know that beastiality is wrong?
I'm standing by with Nick on this. I'm not sitting around waiting for staff do to something.

This is an outrage in itself. To THINK of the act is just so insanely awful that your brain would MELT. This user needs to be either put under very close watch or banned.

Greg, on what basis? You're not the OP, I am. You want it locked because its an inconvenient question?

THIS IS BEASTIALITY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.
This is illegal. If there is someone talking about it, shouldnt they be banned or something? Who is this person?

Okay, can the hostility please be toned down. It really is unattractive for people that are browsing our site.
Umm, I think I know what you are talking about but like Ant has already said, all blogs, posts, signatures, whatever whatever need to be reported. After you report it, and the report has been received, the staff will handle it appropriately. Thats it.
I think I know what blog you are talking about and I will say that the blog has been reviewed by the staff and edited before. If you think that it has rule breaking parts, just report it again.
Encouraging illegal activity is when someone tries to get someone to break rules/laws.

On the basis that its something that you just are not seeing. REPORT IT, the attitudes are a problem and I can see this getting out of hand.

Its always been implied that rules apply to the blogs as well but it doesn't hurt to clarify.
Like I said, report anything that has been missed by staff and we'll take care of it.
Lets be apart of the solution not part of the problem. As a site administrator I can fix problems but I need to be made aware of them. I can't catch everything.
