Back off, bide your time and wait. If you get involved with him while he has a girlfriend not only do you ruin there relationship you ruin yours and his honor. If he's not meant to be with her they will eventually break up of there own accord and if he's meant to be with you then he'll drift towards you. If you can't bare to be away from him then try becoming her friend first. Then you'll mutually become his friend.

Also ways to tell if a guy likes you,
1. He stammers a lot.
2. He tries to make himself seem cooler. (Tells you insane stories about people fought. i.e)
3. He laughs at you're jokes and doesn't interrupt you when you're talking.

Nothing different from what I just told you. Pretend they're not fighting. If they break up don't automatically pounce on him console him. Wait for him to ask you out. All though it might sound cliche or old fashioned most guys prefer to persue girls. No matter what act sorry if he tells you they broke up.
