Metal is the most diverse genre in the whole of music, ranging from melodic to thrash to death. This thread is basically for any metalheads on the forum, whether it's glam metal, power metal, folk metal, black metal, death metal, thrash metal, melodic death metal etc etc etc here's the place for it!
oh yeah, even Nu-metal
I personally like a huge range of metal, and went to Bloodstock Open Air festival in 2009, will go again this year, and possiby Sonisphere too
Bands I would recommend at the moment are: The Haunted, Amon Amarth, Devildriver, Insomnium, Fear Factory, Machine Head, and Soilwork
Anyone wanna recommend something back?

The eyes of a traitor
Malefice
Mushroomhead and (side project)ventana
Threat signal
Throwdown(my fave atm)
Whitechapel
Behemoth(ive included these on the list, on the basis that they are, quite simply, awesome :) id recommend to anyone...into metal)

yeah, I don't mind eminem either as I listened to it when younger lol :whoops:, anyways yes I always get criticised at school for it by loads of people, and yes to how they listen to the same songs over and over usually.
don't know the others, but I've seen and liked Malefice live, and saw Behemoth too who were AWESOME, the mosh pit was a bit brutal though, injured my shoulder lol. I'm also gonna see behemoth live at BOA this year, you ever been?

Been to download, went to sonisphere last year. Planning on going to download england, poland and download this year (as well as leeds) so yeah, you could see me as a metalhead. I don't mind metal, though I wouldn't say it was my prefered genre. And seeing as all the previous festivals are overall rock, not specific metal, i'd say most would agree with me.

You all are metal n00bs. TRUE metal is Whitesnake, Scorpions and Anvil. Metal bands in this day and age are nothing more than coverups for the true metal bands. If you want good medal, go with "Metal On Metal" by Anvil and pretty much anything by Whitesnake, Scorpions, and Megadeth. As for today's metal bands, I don't see the true metal feeling anymore. I think the entire music industry needs to be flipped because I don't realize how anyone can see the true musical influence from today's artists.

what a truly arrogant post, you pretend to have the knowledge of someone living at the time of the dawn of metal, yet your age says you are 15, same as me, which means you would have no experience of the "true metal feeling" that you don't feel "anymore". What's that supposed to mean if you weren't alive to know what the original feeling was? Yes I know megadeth, and yes they are good, but that doesn't mean that just because you like glam such as whitesnake, which was the very worst of the metal lot, except for nu-metal in attitude, in a lot of people's opinon, you know what's "right" metal and "wrong" metal. So give up this ridiculous sense of superiority right now, because the "metal feeling" is definitly still there, the community, the fun, and the true spirit. What was the last gig/festival you went to where there was no feeling of metal then?

Yeah, look at you. Thinking you know that good metal are bands like Disturbed. Sure, I like them, but they aren't really metal as much as they are hard rock. I may be your age, but that doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between good and bad metal. Good metal is the old stuff. Music for me represents feelings that I have a hard time explaining on my own. So how do I know the feeling? By listening to the music that fits me. But hey, to each his own. You think I'm arrogant? I'm not. You act like I've never even TRIED all the current, as you say, "metal" bands when I have. I don't like them. Why? Because I, as a musician, can't feel the TRUE emotion that went into making and playing the music. So what did I do? I went to the old stuff, where the dedication, feeling, and emotion can be felt while listening to it.
So give up this ridiculous sense of superiority right now, because the "metal feeling" is definitly still there, the community, the fun, and the true spirit. What was the last gig/festival you went to where there was no feeling of metal then?
Unlike you, I don't mindlessly throw money to go to music festivals. Unlike you, I'm lucky to get to three concerts a year. Why? Because I work for my allowance fee, which is $40 a month IF I'm lucky. I suppose you don't realize how much a concert ticket IS? As I said, I'm lucky to get to three a year. Right now, I'm just hoping that The Beach Boys go back on tour this summer or perhaps another reunion of The Police or Yes to stop on by me. The only reason I don't go to music festivals is because it's shit I don't listen to. If I were around for a festival like Live Aid in 1985, Live 8 which I could have attended had I the money, or the Knebworth Music Aid in 1990 I would have. Why? Because that is the music I like. Besides, I don't go to metal concerts on the sole purpose that I prefer not to be crushed against a barrier by a bunch of drunk middle aged fat bastards who believe they are the number one fan.
Absolutely seconded. well said :)

I'm not "slagging" them off. I'm simply stating an opinion that you can't bear to listen. "O NOEZ HE DUN LIEK MI FAV BANDS!!!111!1!!". So what? Just because they're new doesn't mean I hate them. At least I tried them out first before I formulated my opinion, unlike most others who put them off JUST because they are new.
btw, i hate to be like this, but u shud look up the definition of "metal".

Scorpions have their moments. They WERE a foundation band for metal along with Megadeth and MetallicA if you didn't already KNOW. But seeing this post makes me think otherwise.

Nope, not ringing a bell at all there Ahab. What do you think the metal bands of TODAY listened to when they were kids? They probably idolize the old bands and those were probably their major influences. This happens in every new generation of musicians. The present time will only matter when todays current bands become classified as "old" and the new generation kicks in. Then we'll be finding ourselves asking the same question of, "What did these bands listen to when they were kids like us way back when?" It's all a matter of THINKING it out. If I were you, I'd be picking what I'd say in my next post very carefully.

Ooohh this looks fun. Firstly, yes I know disturbed aren't heavy, which is why they are Nu-metal, duh! Secondly, I spend a long time saving up for festivals, I'm not rich in anyway whatsoever, don't make out that I am. A concert ticket is fuck all, I'm going to see Evile in a week or so with 2 other bands, for £10! Don't pretend that's expensive. Middle aged fat bastards???? What the fuck are you on about, Bloodstock this august, a total of about 1% were overweight, and the majority of people there are under 30, so again, point completely useless. You make a big argument, yet pretty much every point is wrong? I believe you were the one who started slagging off, by claiming me to be a "metal n00b" yet if you listen to the beach boys and the police, then you have absolutely no place to stand on claiming what's metal, and if you like them, fair enough, but don't claim you know what "true" metal is, because you clearly don't. You claim, you've listened to music before formmulating an opinion, I doubt you've listened to every band I have, and you claim the entire music industry needs to be flipped?
Also, when Grim mentioned the present, you conveniently ignored him saying "fortunately the music remains", so your point on the past is useless too, way to go in failing, as many current day bands have existed for a long time, such as Metallica, megadeth, saxon, rage, etc etc etc! and I apologise if the post isnt 100% coherent, but I have to go to an exam now, so it was kind of rushed

I believe I do, however I only listen to classic metal as opposed to the new age because I find it better. You just can't come to terms because I just happen to not like your favorite bands. So saying I don't know what true metal is, is wrong. You think true metal is the newer age bands, while I believe that true metal are the old bands. Also, Metallica and Megadeth AREN'T new bands. They've been in the metal genre for more than twenty years, so they are classified as being an old band.

Many current day bands aren't Metallica or Megadeth. As I have stated before, they've been around for some twenty years. wow im lost...
i am sick of arguments between metalheads about "true metal". Its all true metal! metal is metal! get over it! its a diverse genre..
old..new..it really doesnt matter..
Dog, i just dont understand your argument about the "true emotion" and the "dedication" of old metal. Back then bands were all about image - they just wore the "awesome" (lol) clothes, grew their hair and surrounded themselves with strippers. People thought they were cool, and became fans, following the trend. The bands themselves were lazy posers. They were hand-fed with fame. Nowadays, metal bands have to work their arses off to get anywhere. Fans are few and far between - metals not a huge trend anymore. They might have no money whatsoever, but stick at it because its what they love doing - thats ya true emotion and dedication!
Oh and the beach boys? LAUGH.OUT.FUCKING.LOUD...

No, what you said is wrong, because I know for a fact that metalheads aren't overweight and middle aged, as I explained earlier. Another time I PROVED you wrong was that concert tickets are clearly not expensive, and I can give many many examples to prove that point
Also as grim said, there is no true metal BECAUSE ALL METAL IS AS TRUE AS THE REST, even if it's metal you don't like, the only metal that could in any way be attributed "not true" is nu-metal due to the way it tried to distance itself from metal however possible. And yes, I specifically said they have been around a long time, as have rage and saxon, that was my point, yet you tried to point out to me that they've been around for a long time??

I'm not saying that ALL of them are. It's just a common stereotype since metal isn't as popular a genre as it once was. It probably ranks third next to rap and pop. I actually find it cool that some older people are actually attending these sort of events. Just goes to show that metal is inded a popular genre. However, I still find that other genres can be more popular than this one. Metal back in the 70s and 80s was so popular that it eclipsed rock to an extent, but now you have rap and pop coming in stronger.

see, now you seem to be making more sense, the whole reason I argued was that you started by calling me a metal n00b really, but in a way you've been insulting the genre itself, and I was defending that there is definitely a lot of good recent bands out there. although in a way that is good, there's a decent amount of bands around but not too many, and a lot of bands are obscure enough to be cheap to see
edit: also there's not enough mainstream influence to make bands change to follow the mainstream, like nu-metal does

Obscurity is actually a good thing. It's better to be popular by word of mouth than by overexposure. Being in the underground scene, it's possible to make more hardcore fans.

So because you don't like the same metal as he does, that makes metal wrong?
Your entire argument consists of changing other peoples points around. 'True' metal hasn't been around for a long time and something tells me it won't ever be the same again.

I prefer metal underground, i dont know why ive just never liked following trends.
matt, sorry about the noob thing btw i was pissed off n things like that make me snap:/
And no-ones shown any disrespect to the genre, just stating their oppinions.
Dan, theres always more decent bands to be found, it doesnt matter how many shitty ones there are. They just make the good ones great.
Also, i used to hate RATM as well, but after a while it grew on me. if u havnt heard it, listen to sleep now in the fire.
now im goin to sleep ive got a fekkin psychology A-level tomorow :(:(:( aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Yeah, if you want real Metal. Listen to Pantera and Black Sabbath!
Excuse me for a moment, I need to take a luagh because Pantera isn't good. Sorry, someone had to say it.
Anyway, good metal bands are....(that I can think off of the top of my head)
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath with Dio
Dio
Megadeth
Mastodon
KillSwitch Engage
Bullet for My Valentine
Dream Theater(prog metal is metal)
Disturbed
Gamma Ray
Helloween
Alesana(it's metal enough)
And I mostly go by bands that are good live, because if they suck live, and they're good in studio, they loose my respect because they're faking most of it. I'll listen to some of it, but I wouldn't ever see them live. Like All That Remains isn't amazing live, but their songs are good.
Another band I would like to add is God Forbid, even though I've only heard one song, but it was good, though.
Lamb of God
3 Inches of Blood
And this band I can't think of...

shut up with the music snobbery. its stupid, no one can tell anyone else that their music is shit, its all with the eye of the beholder. obviously you might not like their music taste, but you don't have to act like a complete bitch who think they know better than everyone else. maybe you do, or maybe you don't but one day someone will know more and they will make you look stupid.
anyway i like death metal, melodic death metal, black metal and heavy metal, as my favourite metal genres.
some of the more well known bands that i like are:
children of bodom
1349
satyricon
darkthrone
immortal
dimmu borgir
iron maiden
twisted sister
in flames
opeth
bloodbath
morbid angel
behemoth
megadeth
rammstein
saxon
hypocrisy
and i really really hate deathcore and metalcore because they are pretty talentless in my opinion, and you cant understand what they're saying, from all the stupid growling and screaming.

I can tolerate Slipknot (I used to love them, now I just like them a bit) but I hate the unnecessary amount of band members (beer kegs? Turntables? O RLY!?) and the fact that they are a nu metal band which I like to think of as the bastard child of the awesome daddy named Heavy Metal (sometimes his friends call him Thrash) and the slut mother named Rap (she is very mediocre nowadays. In the '80s and '90s she was awesome. See her kids Public Enemy and NWA). The unfortunate fact that these two people had a one night stand in a sleazy motel in Vegas after one too many drinks for Metal which resulted in him getting the thing known as 'beer goggles' means that since then Mummy and Daddy have met only briefly and that resulted in another one night stand, this time Che Guevara was added into the fun and a mixture of metal, rap and politics resulted in one of the best things to come out of one night stands ever: Rage Against the Machine. That's for another time though. Anyway, this child who the mother named metal after his dear father grew up listening to good music but then when he hit his teenage years he started rebelling and changed his name to Nu Metal, and disowned his father while Metal was failing with the likes of Load coming out from his favourite kid, Metallica. He then started heavily adopting his mother's ways, resulting in what can only be described as a travesty. These new ways became popular with the idiots who have never heard anything good by any of that good man Metal's kiddies. This popularity lasted for several years (with an uninteresting fight between its children Slipknot and Limp Bizkit (the reason why inbreeding, Budweiser, cocaine and living in a redneck town in Texas do not EVER go together) but then Metal came back from the dead (well, getting high and getting laid at the strip club down the road) and kicked his bastard son's ass with albums like Death Magnetic, any of Maiden's recent albums and some good underground bands. Everyone now liked Metal again and Nu Metal was now only for middle class 14 year olds who can't spell or talk properly and couldn't debate anything on music even if Christopher Hitchens tried to teach them how. Of course, you still get bands living on former glories and releasing 'new' albums (they've hardly changed much, still the same old shit) but Metal was here to stay. Remember kids, Metal is immortal and will live strong even when the next trend comes out. As for Nu Metals mother, Rap, she hasn't been good since the early '90s and is currently going through very severe shit, giving birth to absolute pricks for kids like 50 Cent and Lil Wayne *shudder* and losing any shred of credibility she ever had. It is doubtful she will ever recover from her tragic state.
And that was my story on the rise and fall of Nu Metal and why it mostly sucks. The End. Oh yes, one more thing about Slipknot: Corey Taylor is probably one of the most talented vocalists there is atm. See his work with Stone Sour (Especially Zzyzx Rd. which is the best song I have ever heard.) and his solo work.
EDIT: Oh yeah, bump. Don't lock the thread mods, I want to see what people think of my little story (that I completely made up just now).

I've grown up on Metal, and I must say it has to be one of my favourite genres.
However, my favourite type of music has been Metalcore, for the past year or so. Metalcore is generally despised by proper avid metal fans, which is understandable since Metalcore shouldn't really be classified as 'Metal'.

Whilst not officially a real genre, just like "pirate metal" the bands listed there are still pretty awesome
To super shadows, interesting, although for me the only decent rap I ever heard was eminem (liked it when much younger and tuck with me) ,
anyways, as you said metal is back "underground" it's a lot more than that, in the UK anyway, there's the charts people, which is the majority of course, but the metal population is growing and growing, we have sonisphere festival with around 50K attendees, which to be fair isn't all the heay stuff but still a good number, and even heavier fests like bloodstock which boasts a whole range from Death to alternative metal has around 11/12K coming this year

The Atmospheric Metal sub-genre was created by Agalloch. Noticed how I used "sub" in the word genre. The sub is the way of classifying what type of area it fits in with metal. Still, it's nice that you like some of the bands I named, because it seems like me, murdoc, and deschain are the only that know the good stuff.
BTW, if you're looking for trying to find "decent" rap, the underground rap scene is a good place to start - Such as Atmosphere, MF Doom, Madvillain, and Deltron 3030. Then if you want a more expiremental or even a indie influenced version of rap, look for these: Eyedea & Abilities (Start off on the 'by the throat' album), WHY? (Start off with 'Alopecia' album), and Astronautalis.

Sub genres in metal are things like power, death, black, folk, alternative, doom, thrash, melodeth etc, "atmospheric metal" is pretty much a fusion sub genre, so not even really a real subgenre
and no I don't want any rap thanks :P

Sub genres in metal are things like power, death, black, folk, alternative, doom, thrash, melodeth etc, "atmospheric metal" is pretty much a fusion sub genre, so not even really a real subgenre
and no I don't want any rap thanks :PBut old-school & underground rap is much better then mainstream rap now. I don't particularly listen to much rap in general but even I will admit that there is some good rap to be found if you look hard enough, and I love METULZZZ!!!!1111?!/1 a lot. I know they aren't exactly the most underground artists ever but check out NWA and Public Enemy. Political rap may be what you need as well if you don't want to hear all the stereotypical 'I HAZ GUNZZ!111!!1!, BITCHESZSZ!!!11!1 AND FERRARIZSZSSZ!111!' shit rap.

Nu-Metal is good... SLipKnot, Limp Bizkit, LostProphets etc etc
Mostly into the classic and thrash metal... Black Sabbath, 'Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Kreator, Testament..
The rest of my music is a mix of techno, pop and indie (KMFDM, Lily Allen and Kasabian XD)

Most of the hatred for Nu-Metal isn't on the music, it's on the dumb as anything fanbase who claim that it's "heavy metal," and some o the bands themselves such as Korn who are well known to have insulted and mocked metal to help promote themselves as something new and different, which spawned the term nu-metal

I love powerviolence, progressive hardcore, technical metal, and math metal. Converge, Botch, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Combatwoundedveteran, Ion Dissonance, and a countless number of deathcore, melodic hardcore (Means and It Prevails-- NOT As I Lay Dying), and real hardcore (old punk from the 80's and 90's, and new hardcore punk like Modern Life is War) bands.
I think black metal, and blackened death metal is pretty cool. Behemoth is good, so is Mayhem, Emperor, Burzum, and my favourite is definitly Belphegor.
I also enjoy Sun O)) and drone metal bands.

errm I wouldn't exactly ever relate Ozzy to pop, more just "heavy metal", back when there weren't so many sub genres lol
and if we're going with best album best song thing, then
Best Album: Accross the Dark
Best Song: Honestly can't say, but pretty much anything from the above album

All you people mentioning slipknot make me take you less seriously. I mean, all I hear people mention in this thread is thrash, heavy metal, and basic mainstream metal. Nothing else.
I guess I'm into metal that's more experimental and not based off trying to be the most hardcore bad ass band ever - because anyone that aims for that will fail horribly.
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksutNW3HFT8) is an Avant Garde Metal band that is just fucking crazy awesome and intense.
Strapping Young Lad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RESRl39ZYns) is the most pissed off extreme metal band you will ever find - Promise. I mean this guy is fucking pissed off in every fucking song.
Cult Of Luna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNsp8GKi0AQ) is a really good Progressive/Post Metal band.
Amenra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12F5cFhXZsk) is a Post Metal/Sludge band that I fell in deep love with. They're just so fucking heavy and eargasmic.
Electric Wizard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWHplp10kQM) is the best stoner metal band out. They have a real grungy/sludge feel to their sound.

Bands I think are good metal bands: Children Of Bodom, Gojira, Arch Enemy, Strapping Young Lad, Whitechapel, Hatebreed, Behemoth, Lamb Of God, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera, Slayer, Chimaira, Suicide Silence (controversial), Light This City, Bloodbath, Mastodon, Opeth, Meshuggah, Skinless, Abigail Williams, Dark Tranquility (I like to think of them as a graceful form of black/death metal), Heaven Shall Burn, Amon Amarth, and so many others.
Now, I have to be in a "particular" mood for these kinds of bands.
EDIT: Half of people are in absolute shock that I listen to these, and then there's the other half who actually tell me they expected me like those kinds of bands (IDK whether they mean that in a compliment or not...?). I must admit, you wouldn't look at me and think "That chick grew up on metal, and it's one of her top favorite genres.", but it's damn true. Yeah, both did, check this for their lineups, http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/bands-line-up.php I'd recommend going there next year, and about sonisphere, basically download is an alternative music festival, so has mainly rock but is mixed in with some metal, whereas sonisphere is a metal festival, but a mainstream metal festival, so features bands like metallica, machine head etc
Bloodstock is an extreme metal festival, and caters to a wide mix of metal, from thrash to folk to power to black to death to melodeth to melodic to prog metal etc etc
All you people mentioning slipknot make me take you less seriously. I mean, all I hear people mention in this thread is thrash, heavy metal, and basic mainstream metal. Nothing else.

Metal is no the most diverse not even close. They all sound nearly the same except porcupine tree none of the sounds are different. No metal band is diverse, heavy distortion, repitative chords and crappy as music doesn't make for diversity.

You can't group all of metal, an enormous genre, into one definition. There are plenty of metal songs that aren't just distorted guitars playing chords over and over. Example:

It's true that a majority of metal is as you described, but not nearly all of it. System of a Down is a perfect example of a metal band that doesn't fit the qualities you described.

You get what I'm saying though, its not diverse. Alternative is the most diverse genre by far. Blue grass, soft rock, indie, folk, irish, dub, ska, jazz, R&B, hip hop, electronic, progressive are all sub catagories of alternative, and there are more infusions... Metal is ok let me play this chord, in my amp as fast, as loud and as distorted as it can get.

I agree it's not the MOST diverse, but it's not just "let me play this chord" either. Sub-genres like prog metal, alt. metal and art metal are plenty diverse. And if you're talking about "alternative rock" being "diverse", it's less diverse than metal. Folk, ska, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, electronic and progessive music are not offshoots of alternative music. Alt. rock itself is the modern version of punk, which is very chord-based with simple guitar and drum parts.

Some good points have been made. It's embarrassing when people respond to metal threads with bands like Disturbed, Slipknot and Bullet For Valentine. NO. Those are not fucking metal by any means. There are too many people who are not educated on this genre at all. Never EVER categorise nu-metal or metalcore bands with the metal genre - that's a humiliating and ignorant thing to do on your part.
I also find it infuriating when people invade threads with "Zomg guys, REAL metal is Led Zeppelin, Kiss, AC/DC and other dead ancient 649276242 year old bands." Please, give me Alexi Laiho over metal for my grandad any day.

There's no Good Taste of Bad Taste, anybody has their own taste for things, especially about music, i'm not gonna blame those who like Rap music, even tho i really hate this genres, and i also dont expect a Rap fan to blame me because i see no interest in Rap. thats the same story about Metal sub genre, like for example i'm a crazy fan of Progressive Rock/Metal music, but i should never blame those people who are mostly into Trash/Punk metal, just because i find it wasting time listening to them..
what i'm saying is Respect, guys. Music is Art, and Art is respectful.
i hope this reply gets to change your inner self Danroush. :)

Some Metal(I hope they are) Bands :) - Enjoy
There is no specific pattern. Just scooped them out from a site. They seem awesome.
There are barely vocals - mostly instrumental.
Jesu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0PYwPMnUCM)
Agalloch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA1DUtkEGmo)
Pelican (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHazTKpvpZQ)-Rock? Are you kidding me?
Dark Suns (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSvLVfCRrIU)
Indukti (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3QEtLeHP1A)-Some of you are familiar with this one ;) (Couldn't find the rest of S.U.S.A.R)
Blindead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4EB-GSNyK4)
I think I am going to get a Jesu and Pelican for me. I already got S.U.S.A.R by Indukti.
@deadpie:
Man, I think I am going to get my self some of Electric Wizard. Do you know any other similar bands? Do you think this is accurate? (http://www.last.fm/music/Electric+Wizard/+similar)

Jesu has one of my favorite songs. It's pretty fuckin' long too. Indukti has similarities to the Avant Garde metal scene. Pelican is good post metal.
I recommend to you in terms of Post-Metal is Isis, Cult Of Luna, and Rosetta. If you like Electric Wizard, check out Sleep. They have that sludgy stoner metal feel too. Sense you like Agalloch, I recommend A Forest Of Stars.
@Danroush sage.

A fair bit? im sorry but no this threads been quite an eye sore very few people in this thread have posted real good metal. i could count them on one hand. inb4 you ask me to name them i won't because they already know who they are. instead of getting mad why don't you listen to some of Tim's tunes that boys got great shit.
Getting mad? Pfft
As I said, yeah he's linked some decent stuff, I was just defending the fact that people have posted decent stuff in this thread, plus even if there isn't a whole lot of stuff you specifically like, most of it is still respectable even if it isn't exactly to your taste
And to Tom, no idea what that post was about, you echoed my standpoint then told me to change my inner self to follow the standpoint that I already supported?

I like folk metal, like Eluveitie, and a wee bit of death metal, with a bit of power metal in there. I have broadened horizons when it comes to music.

Nice recom. . Those were all Post-Metal . I am trying to find some Avant-Garde now. I can't anywhere
I got my self Jesu-Jesu, Pelican-City of Echoes, and Electric Wizard - Dopethrone. Going for Isis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eLp8gkvmqM) next. Getting Melvin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAl3A2pYFhM)(LOl at comment, the Vocals sounds a bit alike, though) all together.
I got another Sludge Band. I don't know if they are Metal, but hey: Kowloon Walled City (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KwDf7wTrPw)- Here is another Doom-Sludge Indian (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWQO9SsHWis); care to see another one - I am pretty sure that some of you is familiar with this one: Sea of bones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z1Yxc02tTA) - Come on! Someone upload these guys!
----------------
I think I have covered a little bit of Sludge Metal, Stoner Rock, Noise Rock Doom Metal, Post-Metal and stuff - That's quite an accomplishment.
I need to see some other type of Metal - if anyone one is welling to lend a hand, that'll be great.

All of them are good recom. I like Naked city the most - it was like an improvisation.

This? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osTu38yuuHo) I have mixed feelings for this group.

CLASSICAL METAL!!!1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzOF9w8kG-c) or This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n-fPRhLO20)- Is this what you are talking about? They are trying the play the pieces done by famous Composers, using contemporary equipment. There is nothing new in this one  . Wiki's article about Classical Metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-classical_metal) :D
Yeah. I like it a little bit. Especially since I have heard the original pieces(Who haven't?) :yeah:

I love Naked City. Not many people understand them because they're so fucking "out there" with music. If you like them, check out Fantomas and some of Mike Patton's stuff.
