Is it bad to be asexual?
For those who don't know...
An asexual is someone who does not experience sexual attraction.
Unlike being gay, asexuality is a choice.
I just don't know why people think it is so bad to not want to act on sexual attraction and urges.
What do you think?

Well I don't have any sexual urges for girls like most of my friends...but I don't have sexual urges for guys either. I still have to make my choice about my sexuality, but I'm drifting out of subject...I don't think asexuality is bad, why would it be? You find no attraction in any gender that's all, you're not some kind of freak. But I've really never heard someone complain about asexual persons...

It's not a bad thing at all. Though I do disagree with saying it's a choice. I don't think it's possible to just say, "I'm done with feeling sexual attraction". The brain doesn't work like that.

I had a friend who was sort of assexual for a while. they just didnt feel attraction for either sexes for a while. they had always been unsure of their sexuality and at one point didnt really feel too much of anything. even emotions. but he said he doesnt feel like that anymore and now girls are starting to attract him again. btw he was like 17 so i dont think it was because he hadnt matured or developed enough yet. i just think for some people its kinda fluid, changes.

Saying being gay is a choice irritates me so much. You cant just wake up one morning on one random day and say "Im going to be gay today and for the rest of my life. To bad im breaking up with my girlfriend because im choosing to be gay. Oh well, im gay and if i want to i will be straight again." No it doesnt work like that at all. Sorry if i sound rude and all but if that was possible, wouldnt everyone have a better life? wouldnt everyone have an easier life and an easier decision? YOu cant choose to be gay straight bi transgender etc etc.
anyway asexual is normal

As a self-identified asexual, I feel perfectly comfortable with the idea. I can't really imagine being any other way.
The issues with social acceptance and what not, are more or less found in all other sexual minorities. However, unlike homo- or bi-sexuality, there are comparatively a larger number of people who deny the validity of asexuality.
Plenty of people seem to feel sorry for those who have no desire for sexual partners, because they think such persons are 'missing out on something amazing'. I fail to see it, though, and really could care less.

I don't believe in asexuality.
Why I'm sure people go through the phase where they feel asexual, I doubt it's something one lives with for the rest of their life. It's in human nature to feel sexual attraction.

No it's not bad. There are many famous people who think of themselves as asexual. Nothing bad about it.

There seems to be a contradition in what you have said.
Firstly you say "An asexual is someone who does not experience sexual attraction".
Then you ask "it is so bad to not want to act on sexual attraction and urges".
By your own definition if you are feeling sexual attraction then you are not asexual. Choosing not to act does not change your sexuality, it just makes you celibate.

I think you're mixed up. Asexuality is not having sexual attraction and urges. Not wanting to act upon sexual attraction and urges is called abstinence, chastity or celibacy, and is a time-honored tradition among many people.
Asexuality is not a choice, and there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm only 13 and all this sexuality stuff is new to me, and I suppose it's still a novelty, but I just can't imagine a future without the pleasure it gives.

Kinda like saying you can't imagine a future without playing tennis.
I am attracted to girls, although I seek emotional proximity rather than physical proximity. I feel like I could do without the sexual part, although some cuddling sure would be nice. My hands are perpetually cold.

I wouldn't compare sex with playing tennis, although with tennis the balls are bigger

Homosexuality is a choice. Even a straight male will choose to sleep with some women and not other thus sexuality is always a choice. Bisexuality and just curious striaght people is further proof of this. On a completely different point you need to know the difference between sexual attraction, combined with fondness for someone and actual love.

Incorrect. Homosexuality is not a choice, referring as it does to which gender one is attracted. Whether or not one acts upon those attractions is, of course, a choice. "Curious" straight people are almost invariably actually bisexual and attempting to avoid the label, in my experience.

I don't think it is bad at all. I think its best if we all didn't have sexualities honestly because that whole entire thing of discrimination and confusion it brings wouldn't even exist today.
