Ok. I'm getting so tired of my crap vista. Two days ago I got the Blue Screen of Death just for being on YouTube. I got it three days before that by just pressing the start button. It crated four times in an hour and a half yesterday and it crahsed about everyday for the past three years. Counting the two blue screen if death I got that screen about 6 - 12 times in those three years. Someday it had it's good days with not a problem then it would turn into a demon from hell and just crash all the time. I updated it last week which I think made my comp worse. I always updated it. I even cleared out old stuff and junk and defragmented it idk how many times in those three years. It curently has no viruses Trojans spyware adware anything. The last time it had a virus was probably like back june 2009.

So I may make the switch from a PC to a Mac. I recently bought an iBook G4 in eBay about three months back and I've been using that more than my PC and it's better than my pc and it was discontinued in 2005. And it's lightning fast. It runs smoothly on OS X Leopard.

So my question is for all mac users (I really want an opinion from people who has an iMac from 2007 and higher cause there the most current. But any int can answer. And I would also like opinions mostly from people who have been using macs since day 1. Year 1984. I said ANYONE can answer) should I make this switch and is it worth the switch?

The only problem I have is money. I know the mac mini is only 600 bucks but my monitor is over I say 8 tears old and it's kind of outdated. Even for vista the display isn't that clear and it's a LiquidVideo monitor. So if I buy a mac mini I would want a new monitor and definatley a new mouse and keyboard. The Apple Cinema Display is good for that but I would be spending more than an iMac alone.

Money. My parents aren't going to spend a fortune on a New computer. I just don't want a pc if it's going to mess up again. I've been doing excelent in school second honors and maybe that will work. Idk I hate to bribe.

So any ideas suggestions detals details details details ibwould highly appreciate. Thanks for reading this long thing.

First (concerning Vista) - Did you try a system restore? I've gotten the Blue Screen before and all I had to do was a system restore and I was fine. You say you cleaned out registry and defragmented. Did you use CCleaner? It's a free program and it works a charm. You might want to consider trying out Windows 7 at a computer store (where I'm sure they have a system set up with 7 on it). I went to a comp store and I am now almost convinced that 7 is the real deal. But go with how you want it.

^_^ I love it when I read how much Vista sucks. M$ must have lost tons of customers cause of Vista... ^_^.

Mac minis are great (So i've heard) Indeed its stupid the price of the LED ACD (the apple screens) But they are good screens. Its well worth the switch. I made the switch mid last year. Never looked back, only forward. Im just saying this as an idea... if you want a new screen, mouse, keyboard... You should just buy a iMac not a mac mini, save up for a bit longer, its worth it either the 20" or 27" (24" is now discontinued) If you get a iMac. You get mouse, keyboard, everything... and it all works. Plus if need be, you can put vista on there (you can on mac mini too...) and it will run way better then it would on a PC (non-apple computer) :D If ya have any questions PM me, I'll love to answer Mac related Q&A :D

CCleaner, isnt really that much to do with Blue screens... Its a cleaning program... It could help clean help everything run smoothish... (I use it, when on vista) Even if he tried W7 at a store, there is no telling how well, or crap it would run on his computer, unless he got the specs and rang M$...

i'm using a mac, and made the switch to it last year in November, i have to say they are super fast, no waiting too long for your programs to come up (i'm terribly impatient with computers). the imacs are a big HD screen, its really clear! and its basically the screen on its own that acts as the whole computer, then you get a mouse and keyboard with the computer, i think its great, tough many mac haters would be able to put in many cons, but then again, there are pros and cons for all computer systems.

I have had an iMac for over a year now, and just got a new MacBook Pro 15" for christmas. They are both great, and windows irritates me to no end. Switching both my laptop and desktop to mac was a great thing to do. One note I would add though, is to have at least 2GB of ram in whatever model you do get. My iMac came with 1GB and Leopard 10.5, and after about 6 months, Safari started to use about 900MB whenever it is open Everything else is super fast on both, even with only 1GB on the iMac - except iDVD, which is a probably the slowest mac application I have used on there. The iMac is now very slow to open web pages, so I plan to upgrade the memory. My MacBook Pro with 4GB works fine, and is the fastest computer I have ever owned (currently, I would say something like this configuration would only be topped by speed by a mac with 8GB+ RAM).

This morning I asked my mom "what would dad say about getting me an iMac?" she said "how much are they?" she knew it was expensive becase I had that i don't want to tell look. I said "1200 dollars." she said "oh boy I don't know that's a lot of money. But you just got that laptop." I said "mom for my desktop. I'm tired of the one I have. It's so laggy." she said "you have to talk it over with your father." I said "ok".

Once i do talk it over it will not be too good cause i kind of know what he's going to say. "once wrong with the one you have." "the one you have is fine." "the one you have is only three years old." etc. Etc. Etc. And I'll say "if it's fine why didn't you ever fix it like I asked so many times. I did it myself because I didn't feel like waiting anymore. And that didn't work there's nothing more to fix cause I fixed it." idk if I should say that cause that will make him fix it and do wharves it takes not to have a mac.

If your parents won't buy it then get a job and start saving.

This, and use the student discount Apple has going on during August. (I think it goes on all the time)

I'm intrigued about a new scheme happening in the Uk right now. Apparently some people qualify for a free or discounted student laptop.
