It took awhile for these words to form
It took awhile for these thoughts to worm
Their way out of my head and onto the paper
But now is the time for these words to form a statement.
So listen to the Sky as it calls out to the Ground,
"Rise, rise above. Rise above the clouds."
And listen to the Sun as it calls out to the Grass
"Reach, reach beyond. Reach beyond the past."
The future is the end, the past is the beginning,
We live in between, let’s see ourselves as winners.
We reap the rewards that our forefathers fought for,
We feel the joy that the poor still have to pray for.
We have all that we need, and oftentimes, more,
We have the crisp dollar bill and the nearby dollar store,
The aisles full of hope and luster,
Don't waste life, don't filibuster.
Get to the point and speak loud, be heard
These words are within moments
And they're tragic if not spoken,
So say what you mean and mean what you say,
Open your mouth let the words flow each day.
If you choose not to speak,
Not to make yourself heard
The words will rot
And the paper will burn.
So forfend destiny
And prolong the future
By saving the present
With your words as life’s suture.
