you can tell me like this:
1.how many classes per day you have?
2.do you select classes wich you are going to attend
3.and if you want to add something...

I ask because Serbian schools are totally different you have 16 classes that you have to go to!!!!:confused::what:

I have the same four class for 90 minutes each day. We choose six electives that we want/ don't mind getting, and then we get two of the six that we chose. 1 you want the most to six 6 you want the least. There are a lot of electives at my school.
For core classes, your teachers put you in what they think is best for you, i.e. honors, on level, remidial, or AP.
Hope this helps you understand some American schools. Different schools have different systems for their classes.

Oh yeah, I forgot, a semester is 18 weeks long and there are two semesters. Where I go to school, one semester you will have English/Math and the other semester you will have science/social study class. The electives change each semester, as well.

Schools across the country are different, it just depends on the state...as for my school:

we get to choose our classes at high school, but not middle. we have 4 classes a day, and those are whatever classes we chose for that semester, the next semester, we have a different 4 classes. all in all, we have to have each core class n 4 electives by the end of the year.

Here where I live, we have eight periods a day, and take those same classes for a full semester. Our permanent classes for all year are Math, Science, Gym, Study Hall (Chorus and Band can substitute it), English, Foreign Language, and Lunch. We get to choose two electives to take a half semester.

Overall, it's somewhat confusing. So, here's in your list form.

1) 7-8 a day, depends on the day and semester
Last year we had 4/5 and switched mid year.
2) I select honors, regents, or AP for my core classes, and can choose my electives.
3) The schools in each state are different, so your going to get different answers.

you can tell me like this:

2.do you select classes wich you are going to attend
3.and if you want to add something...
1) I have 7 a day. Some people have 8 as a choice
Last year we had 4/5 and switched mid year.
2) I select what level (AP (university) Honors (harder and more credit) or regular), and I get to pick electives (I'm taking two engineering classes)
3) Not all american schools are the same. It's a big country

1. Since I'm in a homeschool program, I have five classes this year and they keep going on with advancing years. I have six next year, seven the next, etc. etc.
2. I have no classes to select this year, but I will have the option next year.
3. Really, it's easy for me to get the schooling system in the United States. However, it differs from state to state and school to school. It's not like set in stone. But you do have to go to school for twelve years (or that's at least how I counted it).

Sure. Perfect timing for me because we are registering for next year's classes at the moment.

1.how many classes per day you have?
We have 4 periods a day right now however next year we will start having 5 periods a day.
2.do you select classes wich you are going to attend
yes, early the year before your new school year starts, you get a big book of all of the classes and possibilites you can take and then you select classes to fill the slots you have available.
3.and if you want to add something...
May be a little confusing, if you need more explanantion I can do that

Here we have 6 classes a day (Some people choose to have 7, for making up credits and such).
Each class is 54 minutes long, with 6 minute passing periods (Time in between classes).
With 25 minutes for lunch (3 total lunches throughout the day, one is right after 3rd hour, one is in the middle of 4th hour, and one is after 4th hour.)

It's required that you have:
4 years of English
3 years of math
3 years of science
3 years of social study
2 years of PE
1 year of art
And 8 electives

I think that covers it... :p

I have 9 classes a day, and then a half hour period at the end called Activity Period. I'll explain it fully though.

I am allowed to choose some classes for myself. Electives. I take Band and....well, that's it. My school doesn't have many electives, and my class periods are taken up by more important classes.

My periods each last 42 minutes long, with a 3 minute lapse in between. Lunch is 30 minutes.

Activity period is basically like a study hall at the end of the day, but lots of other things go on too. It's designed to be like....homeroom I guess for 7th and 8th graders. Once you are in 9th grade and up, it isn't required for you to stay during that time. You can go and get extra help, go to the gym and hang out, go to the library to get homework done, clubs meet during this time, etc.

If you have more questions, I'll be glad to answer them. :)

I have 7 periods a day, which last 47 minutes each. We have 3 minutes in between each class to go to lockers etc. After 3rd period we have 6 minutes. After 3rd period we have Homeroom, which lasts I think 25 minutes. We have lunch before, during, or after 5th period, depending on what classroom I'm in and what time of the year it is (We rotate lunches every 6 weeks). We have 18 weeks per semester, 36 per year. Lunch lasts 30 minutes. School starts at 7:45am and ends at 2:35pm.

Freshman year (9th grade) we have 1 elective
Sophomore year we have 2 electives
Junior and Senior year (I think) we have 3 electives.

Each semester is 1/2 credit, a full year is 1 credit. In my school 26 credits are required to pass, even though the state of Kentucky only requires 24 (I think, I know it isn't 26 though)

We are required to have:
4 years of English
4 years of Religion (Theology) (I go to a Catholic school)
4 years of Science (Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy, Chemistry, Physics, etc)
4 years of Math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra [most students start with this], Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre Calculus, etc)
3.5 years of Social Studies (Geography, World Civ, US History, EU History)
2 years of Foreign Language (Spanish, German, Latin)
1 year of a Fine art (Chorus, Band, Intro to Art, Chamber Choir, etc)
1 Semester of PE
1 Semester of Health
1 Semester of Intro to Computers
1 Semester of Geography

The rest of the credits are made up with electives. Some last one Semester, the rest last the Full Year.

Accelerated classes are available in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. AP (Advanced Placement [counts for college credit]) classes are available in US and EU History, and Biology. Accelerated classes are weighed at 1.04 times the Quarter/Semester/Year grade average. AP classes are weighted at 1.08 times that average.

Pretty much all I can think of :P

At my school, we have 4 classes a day for one semester, so 8 classes all year. Science, Math, English, S.S you can take any one you want as long as you meet the requirements. usually in my school people take eng. 1, eng. 2, eng 3, and then eng. 4 but you can change, After Eng. 2 you can take AP Lang or AP Lit. Same goes for the other ones too. You can also take two main classes of each type that you want each year. Some classes are one year long. AP Bio is for the whole year! So really I olny have 7 classes this year. Plus I toke French 3 in the fall and now I'm taking French 4 now, spring semester.
