Just a little idea how about reading a few surveys instead of making new one you would have to try very hard to pick a survey topic which has not been done a hundred times previously spend 5 minutes browsing the pages and i guarantee you will find 20x more info then you would if you just started a thread

You think this hasn't been tried before. No matter what you say, what stickies you create or how many rules you try to enforce. You'll still get annoying new members making stupid surveys that they never check and have been done hundreds of times before.
I've just stopped even reading them.

That's ok if you were never an annoying new member yourself. Actually I dont think I was, but somebody will prove me wrong.

No, you're an annoying old member.

Haaah, kidding. But yeah. No point in trying to change anything in P101. Those members are a dime a dozen, they come and go with the blink of an eye. It's probably best that way, anyhow.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't annoying when I was a new member, I only actually made one thread of my own up until I got 500 posts...

There's only like 20 'old' members that still stay around p101, all the others have been members for days and just ask the obvious questions that I've learnt to expect.

I don't think I was ever an annoying new member: I never started a thread in P101. I still answer some threads there though....

But people do need to go back a page or two to see if there is a thread the exact same as the one you are making.

They never do. Some of them don't even check the first page.

Right near the private message button, it says 'Search'. Click it and the drop down box gives you options for searching.
You can also do this while viewing a thread to find certain peoples posts.

I just avoid P101 altogether, because every time I go there, I die a little inside from all the n00bosity to be found...
