I like to swim and play soccer. And I want those shmexy biceps you see everywhere from benching. But lately i've been to lazy. As you are reading this I should be doing something but I'm not, I'm typing this up because I don't feel like going outside. I've been spending more and more time on the computer and playing video games and just haven't felt like going outside. I'm not fat or anything in fact I'm too skinny. I was just wondering if you guys had any tricks for motivating yourself to exercise or if anyone else had this problem?

Thanks anywayz...

I dont have any advice, because I am exactly the same as you. Like swimming and clycling though. I am also tooo skinny. I am going to try to get out more and be more motivated to do things in the next year!

Do it even though you know you won't like it at first. Force yourself.

I have the same problem actually. I want to be fit and work out, but I never put any effort to do so. Though, try to get into a routine. Tell yourself one day that you need to get out of the house and jog or whatever form of excercise you want to do. Remind yourself to do it by whatever means, like putting notes around your house. Hope i could help.

Those are both good advice they are just way easier said then done.

I'm like you too. I'm a little on the heavy side. I mean big. People mistake me for a football player and I HATE THAT. I don't even like football. My gym class has started going to the weight room twice a week and I hope that helps me. You're computer problem you may not like this idea but if you play comp games uninstall EVERY game you have on the comp and have your mom dad or any siblings if you have any to hide the Game CDS so you will never find them. Have your mom or dad to passcodd your router so you don't have access to Internet. Oly use it for school and ask them to unlock it for you. When your done have them relock it again. Those ideas will break down your computer time by far an you'll find yourself going outside and you'll think maybe I don't need to be on the computer that much.

And fir video game consoles have a relative hidE your mem cards or whatever so You won't be able to find them either. So when you do play a game you can't save it and you'll start over and over again until you get fed up without being able to save games. That'll draw you away from the consoles. And also block Internet from your consoles too.

Hope they help

best way is to just start. if ever you get bored doing what you're now, just go do some exercise, you never know you might like it and continue doing it. after that you can start to plan on the ways that you can achieve your goal.

That sounds drastic don't you think? I mean, I want to exercise more and play video games less. I don't want to never play video games.

I have tried. I live in south texas. t's always too hot im tired and bored before I jog a full mile and I don't have anyone to do it with. :(

I know what you mean. But it would definatley help. Try to make a shcedule. An if video Gaea comes first and excersize next, when your video game limit is up and you want to still play just keep saying I need to excersize it's time for that til the point you just can't take it anymore. That always helps me with homework. I tell myself. Do homework until I get a headache and when I do start the hw the headache goes away. And when your video game limit is up don't say oh five more minutes won't hurt. When that's up don't say just a half hour more won't hurt and that half hour will turn into the rest of the day

You're advice is good I know it's good but it's just way easier said then done. I play rpg's so I'd just say wait until the save spot and then I'd play until I forgot about the limit. I need motivation.

If you really want it. Drop the games, and computer. And like Deschain said, force yourself. Make it a habit.

I wake up at around 5:30 to 6:30 every morning, to go running, and hit the ol' bag before I continue my day.

Then once results start improving, reward yourself with game time. But don't go crazy.

For you to succeed, you have to want it. You have to be willing to do it, and you have to actually get up and do it.

I think what I need is a friend who will wake me up and make me do it whether i want or not.

so right man!!! this dude i once knew was always like "come on, we arent done running yet" or "come on 4 more push ups" what you need is a motivator, find someone at your school who shares a common goal, but its more of a DOer
and have him come over and call you so u guys can work out together.

i have the exact same problem as you. almost every holiday like summer or something, i would have this big lazy crash and would barely go out or exercise. the way i find best is to have a routine that will actually motivate you to exercise. my motivation is usually school as unless i can feel that "stretched and toned" feeling when wearing my school uni i feel kind of vulnerable so i would then start gyming and stuff.

so what i'm trying to say is you just need to find yourself some way of getting yourself a routine for your day and a motivation to stick with it; like previous post have mentioned a "fitness buddy" unfortunatly for me all my friends are lazy smokers so i just have to press on by myself.

If you mean bench press, you won't get bigger biceps from bench press. Bech press mostly develops your chest and triceps.

Curls, lots and lots of curls.

If you feel lazy, maybe get a personal trainer? I did because I was too lazy to get into shape for cross country. They worked me to the brink of death, but I actually WORKED. Sometimes you need a little force to get started.

Well, I want to work but to the point of death? Really now? Not worth it.

I was exaggerating.. ;)

The point was that sometimes you need a little push from someone else to get started.

ok lanceworren. Forget EVERYTHING everybody ever said on this thread..lol....jkjk...anyways...
i USED to be like you..i really got into watching WWE ( i know its fake but its entertainment) and since i started watching them, i get jealous that they have all these big strong arms, and 8 packs. and stuff.....thats what inspired me to work out...what inspired me to get out of the house to play sports and stuff was: i joined a sport, and it involved alot of exercise (what sport doest?)....join a sport you are interested in, and get out and do it...use the INTERNET, and look uup stuff on how to get better in the sport you are playing and go outside and try it. also find a good friend that will challenge you to continue with this new lifestyle choice. find a friend that will compete with you to make you wanna go outside.
