Lay me down to rest.
I'll dream but one dream tonight,
As I sleep off all of yesterday.
Tonight- I dream in black and white.
I'll close my weary eyes
And wonder where you could be;
Pray I don't wake again
If I have to wake without you next to me.
I'd rather live in my dreams.
Black and white memories
All faded and weathered in time
But still mean the world to me.
I don't want the sun on my skin
If it's not dancing in your eyes,
Then as far as my heart cares
The sun is just another lie.
A black hole sucking it all in,
Stealing everything from my hands;
It ripped you away
And left me on sinking sands!
I don't want the gentle breeze
Without your gentle voice.
I don't want silver linings,
Don't question my choice.
I'd rather live in the darkness
Than live with another's light.
Throw my heart out to you
Even when I know it's not right.
A wrong choice I don't want to live down.
A memory, a painful smile
Of moments so far gone, still so near
Of all the words worth while
The ones that meant the most
Were simple and yet so true.
The ones that gave me sight
Were simply "I love you."
I'll dream but one dream tonight,
As I sleep off all of yesterday.
Tonight- I dream in black and white.
I'll close my weary eyes
And wonder where you could be;
Pray I don't wake again
If I have to wake without you next to me.
I'd rather live in my dreams.
Black and white memories
All faded and weathered in time
But still mean the world to me.
