Right, so some of you may remember me asking about wanting to teach English or Spanish. Well, I learned I want to dual, major in Spanish and French. However, I am concerned about what my major is to be. I want to teach, but I dont know if I have to major in the education of each, or the modern language-dual major with both of them. I know my Spanish teacher now majored in Spanish and Political Science, yet teaches. He has a teaching endorsement, but no actual education degree.

What I am looking at is somthing like this: http://www.uni.edu/catalog/modlang.shtml#modlangdualteach

I think this is what I'm looking for, but I hope it is correct. If you have any opinions, please let me know.

Hi Addison,

What I gather from that page, is that you will major in BOTH french and Spanish. You will also undergo teacher training, gain a teaching lisence and be able to teach french and spanish.

It's probably worth mentioning that you don't need to have a major OR a minor in education to teach. You just have to have a degree in your subject and a teaching licence. (If you look at the UK uni's, it will be called QTS).

I think this sounds like the right degree to teach french and spanish, but remember that if you wnat to change to teach english, you won't be qualified.

I'll keep looking to see if I can find an explanation into the different degrees for you, I had this problem too. :)
