I heard about this today, it is a short term diet in which the person consumes only liquids for a short number of days to lose weight, now I suppose protein shakes could provide protein, and vegetable juice could supplement vegetables, is this type of diet safe? what are the risks of it? I dont think malnutrition is a risk of this diet because you could supplement vitamins with certain drinks, so does it seem risky?

You neeeeed solid foodddds. Look diets do not work. You need to eat, you need to have nuitrients in your body. You cannot live on liquids alone. Get to the gym and work out. Then have a protein shake.

Why would you want to put yourself on an all liquid diet when you could have a regular diet with solid foods and still achieve your goals. If you want to lose weight try a calorie controlled diet also look at what you are eating etc.

of course you can live on liquids alone, you just need some very specialized liquids that supply you with all the nutrients you need. think of those people who cannot eat solid food in the hospital, their meals are all liquefied and delivered straight to their stomachs.
I think you're referring to those fad diets that only lets you drink certain kinds of shakes. It can make you loose weight fast but it can be unhealthy in the long run.

It is safe, but you only do it if you need too. I had a broken jaw, and I had to go on a liquid diet. Yeah you will loose weight, but you'll only loose like 20 pounds if you eat nothing but mcdonald's milkshakes, which is not recommended. What you are doing when you go on an all liquid diet is you are compressing foods that you would normally eat. Usually when this kind of diet is done, you have to really increase your fat and protein intake. I did this by using more butter and heavy cream, lots of good quality meats and vegetables. But I only did this out of necessity, since it was doctor's orders.

It's a bit of a ridiculous idea really to be honest. There are so many different opinions when it comes to dieting methods and that comes with 'gurus' that could advise these far-fetched methods to lose weight or even maintain a weight. The idea of maintaining weight on a liquid diet only is kind of stupid, it's unbelievable infact. Protein/weight gainer shakes could be useful, but you need food nutrients from good whole foods. Don't buy into the whole thing, stick to regular foods.

Like all other "superdiets", not only does this not really work, it's completely unhealthy.
I don't see why people find it so hard to do it the good old fashioned way. Exercise regularly and eating a varied diet. No it will not lose 100 lbs for you within a month, but please tell me why you want to lose weight quickly, anyway?
All these special diets do nothing but screw your metabolism and other bodily functions up. Anorexics, apart from nearly killing themselves, get messed up in so many ways it's unbelievable. They lose their hair, they get weak and brittle, they even lose teeth in some instances, all so they don't get "fat" at 110 lbs. -_-
If you (well, you in this meaning your friend) lose it properly, even if it takes longer, you'll feel much better to yourself, and it will feel much more like an achievement. You'll also look better and healthy too.
I don't know any guy that's a big fan of super skinny girls, anyway including myself. Most I know love a little meat 'n curvz. Any guy that thinks a girl is "fat" at over 110 lbs needs to be shot.

waaaaay too risky, it's not particularly safe and a lot of people who tried this ended up putting more weight back on.
