First, you need to clear up something with me...

Do you actually have a DVD burner (not just a reader)?
Do you just wish to store the movies on the DVD so you can play them on your computer, or do you want them to be able to play in a DVD player (which would require more effort)?

ok to burn files to a dvd you need several things

1. files you wish to burn
2. a dvd to put the files on
3. a dvd burner so you can put them on a dvd
4. and software that will allow you to ready the files to the dvd burner

ok, so you have the files, you have the dvd, you dont have the software, and you dont have a burner?
is this correct?

I have tried many times to burn a DVD movie to a disk. I used a 700MB disk, a few movies fit but my DVD player couldnt read it. So im not quite sure, but nero is good yes.

Of course you can burn files to a CD, however, they wouldn't be in the same format as DVD, so DVD players woudn't recognize them - and your computer would just be reading the files so it could play them.

Anyway, I'll await Marc's answer.

By the way, Andy, happy birthday :D

Yes, c0mpu73rfr34k, you'd be surprised with how many names I know. In fact, c0mpu73rfr34k, I know most active members' names. But, c0mpu73rfr34k, just a few days ago (I had remembered that I didn't remember Andy's name, which he reminded me on :)). Although, I still like knowing everyone's name whenever I can, c0mpu73rfr34k. :P

you need software of some sort because windows doesnt support dvd burning like it does cd-rw burning, so try the internet for a trial or something :)

Check this one out, it's free and it's GPL so you can be sure there won't be any spyware/adware. http://k3b.org

EDIT: I had a look at their site it doesn't support Windows (I assume that's what you're using). You'd need the qttoolkit as well as kdebase. It might work under cygwin though, so I'll leave the link up.

i got the dvd decyptor, which can burn any dvd i wish even when copy-righted.
("coughs", its a program i got from U.K. and it is one of the few programs that breaks any code the dvd has to keep it copyrighted.)
