The toothless wonder.
What a joy to suppress
One's thoughts and leave
Behind one's misery.

If only I were he,
If I were he
I would not be him,
For he is far too perfect,
Far too linear in the curved world,
To be real.

I would not be the toothless wonder
Who laughs at the oppressive
And cries tears of joy when overcome
By the prisoned hopes of lallygaggers.

I would not be the toothless wonder
Who smiles but does not shine
When the sunlight crests the hills
And rests it's layers upon the landscape.

But I learn in time
That even the toothless wonder
Has eyes,
And he who can see
Cannot be wondrous
For he who can see,
Can bleed from the eyes.
