Hi, i have this bizarre cough, i've had it for about 8 months now, when i cough it sounds really deep and seems to come from further back in my throat?
i went to the doctor and he gave me some steroid tablets for my cough, but they didnt help. i'm going to have my medical for school in a week or two, should i ask them to do a chest x-ray? the last doctor said it was an option, just to make sure nothing was wrong, but at the time i figured the steroid tablets would clear it up, so i said don't bother. but should i get one? or is there some other test they should run? i just want to know what this cough is, its not really a problem, its just strange. i also have had trouble breathing for years, and its gotten worse in the last year or two, ie i suddenly am short of breath, and when i try to take a deep breath the air doesnt reach my lungs, or there is no relief, i'm still short of breath.

any ideas?

The only qualified person to answer your questions is a doctor. Please, get checked out properly, if you have any doubts, your doctor is the only one who would know how to help you

Sounds like a possible chest infection coupled with asthma. As the above poster said though, go to a proper doctor as we're not qualified.

Its possible you have asthma, since the air does not reach your lungs. There may be a benign tumor or growth in you lungs/throat, which is stopping the air. Think about it, when you have something stuck in you chest or throat, you have to cough to make it move, so your body may be trying to cope with it. best bet, chest x-ray. lol, they are really cool, and take a short time to do, plus, you'll get to see your whole ribcage and insides, lol, its really cool, and it will def help!
