Trekking through this white hell, I come across a tree, not just a tree but one that is bright green. It's leaves are lush, its bark is stong and it stands loaming casting its massive shadow upon me. I had been in this world for so long I forgot what it was like to see a tree with leaves so green. I rushed through the snow and grabbed the tree. I squeezed it with the all the might my body had left. I sobbed, I weeped, I cherished. This tree was mine, it's warmth was all mine. I had something worth keeping and knowing this. I spent countless nights sleeping under this tree.
The one cold brutal night, I heard a voice. It was a strong voice, one of knowledge and wisdom. Son, you have slept under my branches too long. You have forgotten what it is like to find another happy place. You think that, just because I look this way now, you will be able to keep me forever. You must find a new tree to stay under. My time is over as soon as you leave, however I ask you to leave now. You must seek that other tree out.
I packed my bag up, and watched as the once lushus green leaves turn orange. I'll miss you, I said quietly. There was silence and I turned to leave. wait he said. Take one of the last green leaves, you will need to remember that you found me. I took a leaf and tucked it in my coat pocket. Will I find another tree like you?
No, in this white abyss trees like me are hard to come by, let us be a beacon. You have the courage that others do not, you will find another and you will find it soon.
