Idk if this has been suggested, but i really need to revive my diary, so could i host like a weekly "write a poem" "Write a song" "draw a picture" sort of thing? then have me and someone else judge them?
Im juat worried about getting enough advertisement for the idea

No as stated before, VT is a help forum not a popularity contest. Or a test of skills.

Granted that we have forums that encourage the artistic members to share their works. The idea would probably fail in the long run.

Greg, as stated before. VT is not only an H&A forum, it is also a community for teens. If it was just and h&a forum, we wouldn't have VT Arcade, and such. Please note, Dustin, that you could post it in your forum. That's what it's for, right?

Thats not the point Lawrence, if we made someone win something and lets say that one person keeps winning. It just greats big issues.

Yea that sums it up pretty much.
Also you don't have to make a thread for permission to do something like this sometimes pming things to an admin can get it down a lot quicker.

Then why do we have The VT Awards?

Kinda like deschain winning on almost all of them? im not disrespecting him/her only using as an example.
But i would make sure it wasnt the same person over and over... unless only like 1 person competed... which hopefully i can get atleast 5-10 interested

You can do anything in your diary as long as it follows the overall VT rules.

If you have something permanently in your sig people will get used to it and ignore it anyway. I would suggest you start a new thread each week with a title like "VT Weekly Contest - Week #1 - theme" then people will see it when they search for new posts. Maybe put a link in the shoutbox when you launch the thread.
Here's another idea, choose different judges depending on the theme, so if it was a poetry contest, ask someone that you respect from The Open Book to judge that week, or if it was photography, as Chequ3r or one of the other camera aces to judge, etc..

Posting links in the shoutbox every time you make a new thread isn't a good idea because it's really annoying and can be seen as spam if it's done constantly

Yeah, but if it's once a week he should be alright, right?

OK, think about the judges suggestion too, I'm trying to help you out here. People will be more likely to enter a round if they respect the judges - it probably wont work if you want to judge everything yourself.

Are you saying people don't respect him?
Or am I just a rhetorical question asking cynic?

No, that wasnt what I was trying to say. I dont think it would matter who you were, if its always the same one or two people judging people wont think that's fair. So my suggestion is either to vary the judges by using "subject experts", or maybe have a poll at the end of each week to let "the public" choose the winner.

I quite like that Poll idea. I might go get involved if I know that everyone gets a say about who wins.

Sorry if my post sounded rude. I wasn't trying to be, only saying that was already planned. I can try to get popular members and mods to judge, would that work?
