I Feel Terrible About This

So, all last year I really liked this one girl that I lack the courage to ask out never-mind talk to.

I thought I had gotten over her for awhile this year and I started liking someone else and they found out and the other girl just happens to be the first girls best friend.

And then my feelings for the first girl came back so I did some meditating and thought about it a lot before I decided that I like the first one more.

My problem is that I hate hurting people no matter how much I deny it to myself.

Anyone have any advice?

You hate hurting people? I'm pretty sure you won't be hurting anybody's feelings if nobody knows....

Unless you are in a relationship with this second girl why would she be hurt for your true feelings for the first girl? Give us some more info. The details are very obscure and I'm pretty confused.

Ok, I don't really think you'd be hurting the second girl if you told her you don't like her anymore. You might be, if she likes you back, but you'll just need to explain it to her. She'll move on, it's more likely she'll get her hurt if you drag it out for longer. If you are going out with the second girl, then sit down with her and explain kindly and carefully the situation, and let her know how you feel. While you might not get the first girl for upsetting her best friend, she will be less hurt in the end. The sooner its done the less hurt she would be.

Be careful here, this could ultimately backfire.
If you tell girl number two that you really like girl number one, but girl number one turns out to be someone you really don't like (don't know until you try) then girl number two might not even consider you if you hurt her by saying you like girl number one. Girls are VERY SENSITIVE, and to be honest I feel like you should focus on girl number two, I think it will turn out to be a better relationship because you actually KNOW her and have talked to her and such.
