I've never understood the whole my games console is better than your games console, why can't they all just get along! :) To me though, the best would have to be the PS3 cos its got that blu ray player thingy and singstar

I love my ps3, it plays games, does a good job at being a media centre.. it has some great features and good games. the xbox does have better online gaming though, also the controllers are much nicer.
Neither is better, it just depends on what you want out of it.

Andy is right, it's totally personal preference, but if I had to choose I'd choose the Xbox360.
Even though online is free for the PS3, Xbox's servers are much better and you're dashboard and avatar are customizable, making it feel like your little home.
However, I would like to play Uncharted 2...

Uncharted 2 rules! So does Resistance 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Can't wait for God of War 3. PS3 all the way...plus it's gonna support 3D with a firmware upgrade!

Now that's pretty cool.
All those exclusive games and stuff makes me want to invest in a PS3..I mean just look at the Gamespot awards, PS3 swept!
But I still <3 my Xbox.

My PS3 is the best because: It can play all the epic PS1 games, and the older ones (like mine) can play all the good PS2 games, it has a built in BluRay player, built in WiFi, free online (I have never had online problems), mine is shiny :P, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo Series, Internet browser (even though it isn't great), Slot loading disc drive, the old ones have a Memory Card Reader, and it doesn't have a 55% failure rate.
Funnily enough, I just stated all the stuff that the 360 can't do. :D

Ok. I'm an xbox360 supporter and I can spot flaws in almost all of your points...
360's can play original xbox games.
BluRay player - Zune, instant movie streaming. Sky player, live and recorded tv free on xbox.
WiFi - it's called an adapter.
Online - Hmmm.... free and shit. Pay and good...?
All exclusive games - We have more and debate ably better ones.
Net Browser - That's what a laptops for...
Slot loading disc drive - If I don't know what it is, what's the point in it?
55% failure rate - For 360's made before 2005... that was almost 5 years ago, when are sony people going to stop relying on that fact.

I'll admit, technologically thinking, the PS3 beats the Xbox360. But for a basic gamer, the Xbox is much more common, and not to mention 100 dollars cheaper.

That WiFi adapter costs money. $100 for a router then another $90 for the adapter? For $90 I could buy a new game and an older one. Microsoft should know better. I couldn't give a shit about having avatars; online gaming is for GAMING. I will admit Forza is amazing, but I can't think of anything that can compete with Uncharted 2. PS3 also has Netflix. You said that a laptop is for internet.... With that laptop you can have free live and recorded TV.

Xbox has netflix too.
And the adapter is not necessary to connect to the internet, you can have a ethernet cable.

He mentioned instant movie streaming, which is most likely Netflix, which the PS3 mow has.
And if I want multiple computers connected, or don't want to have wires running all around my house Wireless is sort of a good thing.

Videos on demand on the video marketplace is what he is talking about, my friend. Not Netflix.
I prefer the 360 because the online isn't garbage, I could honestly couldn't care about blu-ray because I don't even play in HD, I like the exclusives because I like sci-fi-ish games, the party system is just amazing, games on demand is neat, backwards compatibility is always nice, even though I don't have any Xbox games because I had a PS2, but in all honesty, this is just one giant troll thread; these threads always are.
I may dislike Microsoft, but they have a friendly community, i.e. Major Nelson, and other things. I don't know if the PS3 has a thing like Inside Xbox where they like like show you Microsoft things.

Built in WiFi. My point is that with the XBox you gotta shell out $90 for something that is already built into the PS3, and the Wii for that matter.
Sorry Jake, I just noticed now that you posted just before I did.

As a player of a Xbox and PS3 I would say they are both better in their own way. Depending on what you want and need, go for one or the other.
I just bought a PS3 and stayed up the whole night playing demos. xD Now I just need to buy them. I mainly decided to get it because I've ad 360's around me for ever and I wanted to check out the PS3. I got an older version too so I can play all the old MGS and FF series games. W00t! With Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2, and MGS 4, I couldn't help but to try it out.

Ok, I agree that Microsoft has some major issues with everything they create. But they always fix them quite quickly...
Anyone blabbing about price - When you work out how much you need to spend (You don't actually have to...) on an xbox after the original buying price it works out at the same amount as a ps3. If you get an arcade (Cheapest) then it's much less than a ps3, but has exactly the same things, apart from the unnecessary blueray...

Just use a ethernet cable for WiFi
I choose xbox 360. Alot of people complain that the PS3 is better because is has free online. But the PS3s servers suck, Xbox 360s online servers are better
( Plus, Left 4 dead FTW )
And the whole blu-ray thing. I don't even watch movies on a disc at home so I don't need blu-ray. See I discovered the modern way people watch movies at home. Its called The Internet. But oh wait! Blu-Ray is HD and the sounds fucking amazing. Thats why I search for HD movies online and hook up my computer to surround sound.

Please do explain where it is cheaper.
And if you buy an XBox 360 Arcade you get a whopping 256MB or storage. Then you spend $100 for a hard drive. And $90 for a WiFi adapter. And, if my math is correct, $200 + $100 + $90 = $390. And, for $350 you can get a 120GB PS3 Slim, with built in WiFi and a built in 250GB HDD... which you can replace with virtually any SATA laptop HDD, without breaking the warranty.

Ethernet Cable=Wires, WiFi=no wires. Unless you are using a wireless bridge, which also costs money, that makes no sense.
Going down to Blockbuster, and renting a movie, or going to Best Buy and buying one, is.....whats the word I'm looking for..... o ya; legal. Sure you can rent and buy movies on iTunes, but you can't burn them to disc and take them anywhere. And WHEN that computer crashes, your shit outta luck because all of your movies are on a hard drive.

There are rumors that Sony will start charging for extra features, but the free PSN will be the exact same as it is now. Free online, free access to the PSN Sore. Uncharted 2 is way better than Halo. Its about opinion.

i dont know how many times i've had to say that PSN will still remain the same but will include features that are just too costly to give away for free. the ps3 servers arn't all that bad they get the job done to an enjoyable standard which is all that's needed, xbox is more dedicated to online games because well they're microsoft that's what they do.... computers, internet all that shit. oh but what i did hear is that the reason Xbox dosen't have internet browser was because microsoft couldn't get the coding right or something but Sony and Nintendo could (not relying on it just saying that i heard it mentioned on a talk show.)
but personally i think their exclusive games are rather lacking in imagination so to me isn't one of their strong points. i mean you look at MGS, Motorstorm, Resistance, Uncharted and FFS. which have all broken records in their fields. then you look at what? Halo, gears of war (quick, quick shoot the alien, done before many times) Halo which i've played just seems like a crappy version of Call of duty, Gears of war? Army of two was way better and it wasn't even all that good. Fable? why bother just play Oblivion.

Actually, the 360 does have a web browser, but it is quite shitty. And I heard that Sony patened that shit, anyway.
And plus, you use a computer for the internet, not a console. Who cares about web browsing on a console? Hurr, you're supposed to play games on it, not go to YouTube.
Gears of War isn't fighting aliens, by the way. And Fable is nothing like Oblivion. Army of Two is cross platform, so why'd you put that?
Mass Effect has one of the greatest story lines in any video game to date. It is just so well done.(I'm just putting that out there)
And how can a a sci-fi shooter be like a WWII/Modern day shooter at all? By you just saying that, I can just say that CoD3 is just like a crappy version of Battlefield 2. They're not the same. Halo Combat Evolved came out around the same time around the first of Call of Duty, maybe before.

does it really matter with the "it's for games not browsing internet" argument any more i mean it seems everyone's jumping on the online media device wagan. the bluray player itself (not ps3) has online too, so are rumours of future television sets with web browsers installed internally. it's all about ease of use and not having to load up the laptop or the PC when you just wanna check email or something from where you are already sitting.
and about the games i'm just saying that this is the feeling i get when i play them, gears of war: so it's those stupid looking things from the center of the earth, it plays like Army of 2 and i think A02 is also better. Fable 2 is an RPG Oblivion is an RPG so they are both marked in the same categorie granted they are a differant style but Oblivion is still better. and yea you can say cod3 was shit compared to battlefield 2 cus it was, but it was for PC anyway.
Halo came out 2001, call of duty 2003 and medal of honour 1999
all shit anyway lol

I got a 360 so I voted that. The $60 a year for live is worth it since PSN sucks. Takes forever to update a game, and then it takes forever to find a game. And the 360 has a larger fan base (even though it sucks for the most part). The 360 is more for experienced and hardcore gamers, while the PS3 is more for causal, and the Wii is for people who never play games.

the ps3 and the 360 are both for hardcore gamers, the only differance in style is 360 is more sci-fi based and ps3 just creates differant ideas like resistance or uncharted. also how can any one even attempt to say the 360 has better graphics, the multi format games like army of two, or fallout etc will be more or less the same because the Blu-ray isn't fully being used, but all eclusive content has way better graphics

I have a good-working Xbox. I do not want to break it. But in the last time,"something" is happening with that xbox (it is still in warranty) So I am waiting for it to get RROD so I can return it back to shop and buy PS3.
You can only return it to the store within 30 days. Past that you gotta send it in to Microsoft and they will fix it and return it to you.

All this thread has been has been mindless chatter about which games are better and the red ring of death.
ALRIGHT THEN. Lets revamp this shit.
PlayStation 3:
Pros - Well number one is the fact that theres no Red Ring of death, a <5% failure rate, free online multiplayer, free built-in WiFi (which even the Wii has, which bursts into flame at the sheer mention of the word ONLINE), Year's best console exclusives (Uncharted 2, inFamous, Batman: Arkham Asylum, etc.), New low price tag, Blu-ray disk player, video chat, built-in Playstation Home, which is like a free version of the Sims, Bluetooth headset compatible, higher resolution, easier controllers to connect to console and much longer battery life in them, made by Sony..
Cons - Its been put down by the 360 Fanboys. Former price tag high enough to put Microsoft to shame, Prior to 2008 there were absolutely no truely good exclusives, or even games for that matter, 540 nm UV laser more prone to breakage then 650 nm IF laser used in Xbox, although it allows for greater memory storage, wireless can be a pain to set up
Xbox 360:
Pros - |Excellent online multiplayer experience, More dedicated servers, more popular exclusives (although this is due to fanboys flaming PS3 at every chance) such as Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Halo Series, More popular gaming system, released earlier, chronically lower price (although this is highly debatable)
Cons - RED RING OF DEATH, >68% failure rate, faulty parts, made by Microsoft; therefore: You have to spend wealths of money on things that are free on playstation such as $50 for Multiplayer, $90 for WiFi, $70 for Cooling fans that actually work, the fact that Microsoft may keep your console - repaired - without sending it back to you for 6 months, 360's are known to: Catch fire, break easily, explode, melt the motherboard, Red ring of death again, E 74 error messages and fall apart.
You decide which is better, and not based on which you own.

The laser on my 360 went, i sent it off, microsoft fixed it under warranty and i got it back free of charge, with a month of live to say sorry, less than a week later.

Umm...? Cooling fans never work and they're not seventy bucks. $50 is a one time payment once a year. and actually, you can sometimes get it even cheaper than that on Amazon. I'm sorry, but if you complain about paying fifty dollars once a year, then you must complain about buying sixty dollar games. 360s don't break as often as you tihnk, now. Microsoft got that shit covered now. And never once have I had to wait six months for my 360 to get returned. I had to wait two weeks and it was free becuase I was under warranty. Dude, you basically just trolled me with that post, but I don't care, because you're spreading lies.
Oh, and B:AA wasn't PS3 exclusive. :P

The least you could do is admit that Microsoft hasn't lost the art of ripping you off.

The 360 cooling fans dont work either..
Well, I also included all the problems of the last 5 years. You cant simply forget those problems.
$50 is still a fairly stiff price for something you get free on another system.
$60 is the going rate of all games on all consoles anyways. Even to a lesser extent the Wii.
I've witnessed 3 of my friends' 360's break. Also hearing about so many stories and doing some researching of my own brought me to the conclusion that they break more often then any console ever should.. (Except the Phillips CD-I :P)
You don't live where I live. 'Nuff said. Not everyone Buys warranties.
Lies? No. Moderately Biased opinions after losing 2 360's in 2 months? Yes.
And For Arkham, I was just thinking off the top of my head and what came to mind was the PSN exclusove which i thought was the console exclusive. No biggie.
That's not expensive at all. That's cheaper than a game.
A Game LAsts more then a year..
Unlike the console itself.. (Sorry, I couldn't resist flaming the failure rate one more time)

Xbox 360 > Playstation 3
Well, If..
Y = Playstation 3
5(y-6)+10=45y-2
5y-30+10=45y-2
5y-40+2=45y-2+2
5y-38-5y=45y-5y
38=40y
40y=30
40=40
Y = 0.75
or if..
X = Xbox 360
11(x+1)+4-x=-21x-56+82
11x+15-x=-21x-56+82
11x+15-x+x=-21x-56+82+x
12x+15-15=-20x+26-15
12x+20x=-20x+11+20x
32x=11
32=32
X = 0.34
0.75 > 0.34
Therefore, Playstation 3 Wins ;)

Xbox 360; you generally get better games for it, the controller is nicer to hold, and also stronger (in my experience).

Xbox 360 - Pros - Good games. Xbox live rules. Fast.
Cons - Breaks easy. Have to take care of it. Games come out so fast its hard to keep up with everyone.
PS3 - Pros - Reliable, Some games are fun even if you have beaten em a million times. Controlls. God of war 3.
Cons - Short game choice. Internet isnt really for gaming. Some things are EXPENSIVE.
Overall, the 360 and ps3 are the same in their diffrent ways.

I've owned both ( break in, xbox stolen. Currently have PS3 ) so I've experienced both. I will admit that the xbox 360 is better. The graphics are better than the PS3 (slightly) the PS3 doesn't have a party chat function, so you can't talk to friends while playing different games. The dashboard on the PS3 is very plain. You can't change your online name.
Overall I like the xbox better, sony really needs to improve the PS3.
