its got to be the bacteria in the water or an allergic reaction. Unlikely, but u could be allergic to the sunscreen u used.

but who would only put sunscreen on their nipples? I'm guessing it's the mineral content of the water and something on your nipples that caused it. Why your nipples? Who knows.

On both his nipples?
Unlikely.
Probably just a reaction to something in the water.
Nothing to fret about.

if you bodyboarded(boogie board) you might have gotten a rash.
or if you were wearing something when you went in the water sand couldve rubbed inbetween your body and the material you were wearing thus creating a rash.

Mine do the same thing with saltwater... I just put some kind of cream on it when they scab.

consult a doctor. Have you ever posted something useful? Like, ever?
To the OP, Hmm, that sounds unusual. Maybe the salt in the water got into a cut or something. Was there tiny scratch before?
If this happens on another trip to the beach, I would say to go see a doctor

I myself am a frequent beach goer, as I do live in Southern California. As most of us know nipples are a very sensitive part of the body for both males and females. They also protrude off the body a bit, especially when going through puberty and your hormones may cause swelling. Anyways rash is a common problem when your at the beach in the water. Sand rubs against your body resulting in a rash. Thats why many bodyboarders, surfers, boogie boarders, or even just people causally swimming in the water either wear a rash guard or wet suit. The drying affect of salt water further irritates the rash making it far worse. I have experienced the same thing as you many times. Next time you go to the beach wear a rash guard, they do wonder for protecting you from rashes as well as from the sun.
