My friend's ex likes me.

ugh.

So my friend(a fairly new friend) is still completely in love with her ex and wants him back.

I recently became friends with the guy and we would always text/talk online...I thought he was so much fun to talk to/really cool. I didn't think anythinggg of it.

Point is, I was extremely oblivious and now I found out he likes me. I convinced her that I have ZERO attraction to the guy (which is true) . But now...

the right thing to do is to back off and not talk as much/text him as much, right? I really want to keep him as a friend because he is so much fun, but that would be leading him on/hurt her, right?

And do you guys think she's being kinda manipulative by telling me she wants to meet up with me and sit with me while I talk to him on msn...and help me figure out what to say so he knows I don't like him?

Well...
just tell the guy that you know he likes you but you're not going t do anything about it because of your friend, just tell him to lay off abit and that you just want to be friends. Make sure he knows that you're not interested in a relationship.

Friends come and go. Telling him to back off will be the simplest solution. If he truly is a good friend, he'll not take it personally and return in your friendly favor.

the right thing to do is to tell him ur not interested in dating (assuming u aren't or don't want to to be respectful to your new friend) but wud still like to be friends, be very straightforward with him and make sure he understands you do not want a romantic kind of relationship

and i wudn't call it manipulative but it definitely portrays ur friends distrust and insecurity....something that shud be addressed..
