think about this. why would the goverment reveal cures to major deseases such as cancer, herpes, HIV/AIDS, etc... why not? because a massive amount of income is made off these. why lower profit? to save lives? people are currupt and evil now days could the cures be locked up hidden from the puplic's eyes? am i crazy or do i just think deep and look beyond the surface? anyone feel like this makes since even if it's a horrible thought?

A cure for HIV/AIDS has already been discovered by a German clinician. It involves steam cell transplants & a certain gene mutation named "CCR-5 DELTA-32". Also, it is spelled "Government".

for the US government yes, there are "levels" that are "to high" for the president to know about....and yet the tax dollars pay to run them....we don't even know what we are paying for....there may be a cure...

They do conceal certain information to everyday people depending on the nature of the information, such as plans involving national defense. Much of what citizens pay taxes for we are not allowed to know because we're not part of the need to know basis. Many of the policies as they're being formulated may be kept quiet from laypeople and the policies may eventually be used to bring in money once put into effect. This hierarchical schematic isn't something that's brand new and the policies may help bring in money.

I don't understand how this is a debate because where's the opposing side?

Because obviously the president wouldn't be aware of knowledge that seems pretty obvious to a 15 year old from Iowa.

I was going to say exactly that. :P

This sounds like ridiculous mumble jumble, re: the op. The government keeps many things secret that must be kept secret for national security, efficient working of government, etc., but it's not like there's some shadowy cabal hoarding all of humanity's technology for their own gain.

Any government wouldn't dream of hiding cures to such deadly diseases. They'd probably make more money in the long run from people living and paying taxes than dying. And you make it sound like the governments are the people coming up with cures, not true. That's all down to pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, and therefore they make the money. The government pay for drugs if you have a health service such as the NHS. Yet again, less profit for governments.
You also obviously don't know much about the drug manufacturing process either. Yes, a cure for HIV/AIDS has been found, but it only works with something like 1 in 8 people, and can cause death in others (as with all drugs). Therefore drug companies won't bother because spending money on a drug which would save more people would reap more profit for them than releasing one which can kill and doesn't heal everyone. These drugs are put through strict clinical times so nothing bad happens.

Governments have to keep things secret for security purposes etc but things like medical breakthroughs have nothing to do with them. Independent academics are really the only ones who have anything to do with breakthroughs in research.am i crazy
My initial reaction was "yes" but tbh I just think you spend too much time suspecting everyone of trying to wrong you or each other.

I doubt they will hide it, but they are too preoccupied with obiesity to focus on that stuff.

I know an easy way for you to figure out the answer. Go into your washroom, put on some sunscreen, take a few chill pills, go to a beach, and relax. The government may not be the nicest people, but they don't want people to die from a horrible disease.

Understand?

Do you honestly think the president knows every single thing that goes on? There will be things kept classified even from him

But a fifteen-year old wouldn't know more than the president.
