Well i have been looking around for a way that i could inprove my Nivdia 5500 PCI card, b/c i can barly run any decent games. And I heard that direct-x 10 was going to have a protical in it that would allow a PCI grafics card to have a direct line to the computers ram. That way it could use the ram on your computer like Grafics memory. Dose any body know if this is true, and if so do have anymore info on this?

DirectX 10 is out? *Installs Windows* Actually I have no idea. I use Linux. Well... I'm taking a break from the open source community until I get my PC upgrades!

i think DX 9 is the latest out at the moment, i think that DX 10 will come along with Vista

I'm running DX10, but only because I have Vista. If you have a GeForce 5, I would advise you to burn it and upgrade. Do you have any agp slots?

I think if anything, DirectX 10 will allow PCI-Express cards to communicate directly with the RAM - if the motherboard allows it. Since PCI is ancient technology for computers, and PCI-Express is far superior to both PCI and AGP, it would make more sense for DirectX 10 to work better with newer cards. And I think you'll have to have at least a 6 series (if not, a 7 series) nVidia card to take full advantage DirectX 10. Though since DirectX 10 isn't technically released yet (only on the betas of Vista), I think we can all wait at least a year for better cards and lower prices before upgrading :)

Vista's going to be the worst version yet, if you ask me. I tried it last year, although to be fair, that was a very early BETA. But still all the cool features I was hoping for have been cancelled. :(

I know what it's like now. It sucks, not because it is a BETA. Because some features were ripped from OSX. They tried to implement spotlight on vista, and they got crap. If you are going to buy a laptop, let me give you some advice:

Hmmm... Advent, that link... I'm just not sure that laptops are made of glass and a blue light alone o_O Though hey, if you can type on one of those Apple laptops, go for it (though I don't see a keyboard anywhere... not even USB ports) :)

Ha HA kiros. But ya i don't realy see much hardware on that computer. I think that apple would make a better coaster, or night light.

Ya, i know, I know, but *sigh* i don't have any PCI-E or AGP slots. So i am going to have to wait till i have the money to build my next comp, witch may be awile:( . But ya thanks for the info kiros anyway, i gusse i will just make sure my next computer's motherboard has a PCI-E slot.
