I was on another Forum (just looking as a GUEST) and i found, that they have a LOTTERY, the tickets are brought by useing points that they colect, i asume that they get points for POSTING.
I will add more information when i get it!
I would just like to know, if anyone thinks this is a good idea?
If you want the site name, PLEASE PM me.
ok i have some more information.
They win points by Playing games, but because there are no games on VT, we could (i dont know if it would be possible though), get points for posting, blogging and more...
what do you think?

), get points for posting, blogging and more...
I can spot a few big problems already...
1. Getting points for posting would result in loads more spamming and trolling than we already get which, frankly, is too much anyway.
2. I don't know if you're aware but when people get certain infrac points they can't post straight away and everything has to be moderated. So posting, blogging (whatever else you think they could do to get points) would be more difficult for people with infraction points.
What could the winners get exactly?

The reward for me is smacking some dumbass upside the head every now and then. Then getting negative rep because people are sensitive.

I don't mind us having a lottery as long as someone else provides the funding for the prizes.

lol,
that could be fun...although people would have to understand that getting the gifts may (if it were done with real products) giving out personal infromation to site staff and then getting stuff sent to you

agreed, some sort of user agreement just for the games and such would be needed.
Wonder.

You could get points for getting good rep and loose points for getting bad rep. Possibly?
The "prizes" don't have to be objects either. On The Sims Resource you get kudos (points) and with the kudos you can get things to add to your profile or download exclusive Sims 3 items. Obviously we couldn't give away Sims 3 stuff but you could give out customization options that you can only use if you buy the option with your points. Oryou could do the lottery idea by buying the lottery tickets and the winner gets the extra special option. It doesn't have to be for your profile even. Or there could be a special (I forgot what it is called but the thing you start new threads in) only for people who win the lottery.
I've got MANY more ideas! I feel special. I'm going to reward myself with a cookie.

I like it the way it is. Just like (Sorry I am to lazy to scroll up) the other person said there would be a significant increase in spamming and trolling to win prizes. I vote no.

Perhaps a special face for lottery winners.
I wouldn't like to see it involve real prizes/cash, that could go very messy.

I would like it if games were possible, that way there isnt any spamming or misuse of rep.
Oh and definitely no "real" prizes.

I agree. If people want to feel important why not do something that other people deem as important, not winning it randomly.
Also, almost anything you do to generate points could be spammed and trolled.
Games = Constantly played by the same people.
Rep = More abusing of the rep system
Post count = Spamming, trolling and more pointless threads.

Games being constantly played is not spamming or trolling them and there's nothing wrong with people doing that.

What I meant is that very few people would play them, so you'd have the same people playing the same games over and over again. Getting good at the games, so when anyone else does actually play they won't be able to 'win'.

This is true, however you could limit the number of time a member of VT can play a specific game. And not let guests in to play games (MEMBERS ONLY) so existing members cant play as a guest and practice like that and then go in to the game and win coz the have practiced as a guest, so just dont let guests in to play!
good idea, what do you think??

Then that's no one's fault but their own they had the opportunity to play the games but they didn't want to.

Why don't we just leave it as it is. If you want games, go to addictinggames, if you want a lottery, go to a gas station and buy a ticket. If you want help and advice forum stay here. If you want a sense of accomplishment, go do something productive.

If we thought like that about every suggestion we wouldn't even have most of the stuff we do now. VT was originally to help teens going through depression and mental issues, we don't need any other forums besides the six already dedicated to that and if the admins thought, "If they want more than that they should go to a site that has it" then VT will still be what it was 5 years ago. Adding games to a forum is not a new concept it's been happening for years with other sites and adding them here will no more give or take away from the purpose of this site than adding the VT Arcade.

Not true at all. Majority, if not all, staff discussions happen in the private forums.

So, when mods post things in these threads it doesn't let you know that they're seeing your suggestions and giving an opinion? I know mods don't always respond to every suggestion, but sometimes everyone shoots it down right off the bat and it's considered obvious that the majority of the site isn't in support of it.
Thomas, Ant, and Patchy have all posted in this discussion, and Thomas has been following the whole thing from the start, judging by his posts. Clearly the moderators have seen this thread and some are considering it/giving you feedback...

Just because not everyone will want to play them, doesn't mean we can't discuss the idea.
Not everyone uses flashchat or really cares to, but that doesn't mean we should eliminate it.

Staff have discussions on ideas all the time, be it suggestions by members or not. Some ideas aren't always possible though. But end of the day staff sections are private for a reasons. Just because not all staff have posted in a suggestion thread doesn't mean it hasn't been thought about and considered.
