D: says (3:15 PM):
*Well.
*I'm an idiot.
Mike says (3:15 PM):
*Why?
D: says (3:15 PM):
*So I just got my cintiq today, right.
D: says (3:16 PM):
*And it functions like a second monitor and a tablet.
*So I'm setting this thing up, and the manual says to set it up as a monitor before I do so as a tablet. So that's alright.
*I go to my uh, control panel thing.
*And I can set one of the two monitors it detects as my main monitor.
*I'm not getting any picture on my cintiq, so I set it as my main monitor to see what happens.
D: says (3:17 PM):
*Now, if you don't know
*All your desktop icons and task bar and everything open in your main monitor
*Your secondary one is just your desktop background
*so
*I accidentally close my control panel window
*And now everything I try to open is on the screen I can't see
D: says (3:18 PM):
*Meaning unless I boot into safe mode (as I do now) I can't do jack shit with my whole computer.
*Because everything is on the screen I can't see.
*I'm an idiot.
*So now I have to move my few valuable things onto my USB data drive and do a full system restore.
Mike says (3:18 PM):
*You can't switch the monitor you're using right now to the main one?
*In safe mode
D: says (3:18 PM):
*Nope. In safe mode, it only detects one.
Let this serve as a precautionary tale to anyone who tries setting up a dual-monitor deal.
