That sucks. At least it will only unlock extra stuff; basic online will be free. $70/year doesn't sound too bad, but thats still one of the reasons I bought a PS3- Free PSN.

the plan is keep to basic PSN the way it is, exactly the same, but to offer an excellent prenium service, which I whole heartedly support.

nothings official yet and that's just adding stuff in not taking anything away from the basic psn. the main features are unlimited access to music downloading service ps1 classic games and minis. so they obviously can't give that away for free which are about £5 each on psn for ps1 games; anyway so there's nothing going to be differant whatsover unless you want a ps3 limewire or love retro games

Why does everyone say that they will get rid of their Playstation 3? It'll probally be a one year payment, just like Xbox LIVE. It's not that big of a deal.
Destroying it is just a waste of money.

Well I don't think they sould make yo upay, I mean it has alway's been free, why go now? PLUS they are making money from the PSN store. There really isn't any point in doing this. Just going to annoy customers.

If they made enough money from the store, they wouldn't consider this. They obviously need more money to keep PSN running smoothly. It's not like it doesn't come with benefits, like Xbox LIVE has, which you are acting like it won't.

PSN WILL STILL BE THE SAME!!!! jesus christ lol. it's only some new apps that they're adding to it which are too expensive to give away for free. As i said earlier it will be providing an unlimited music download service; how do i know it's going to be free? because there's already "Vidzone" software on the PS3 which is a pay for download service. why would they make another one...
there will also be unlimited usage of all PS1 content as well which would be about £3.50 a pop anyway.

These are the two only main factors that are going to be apart of this new pay subscription that Sony will be OFFERING not forcing so you will still be able to do everything else online as normal, (using the video supplied by "DaTrooper00" as my personal conformation which is not official.)

i looked into it just there now. There isn't voice chat unless playing the same game, but there is text chat. for video/voice chat u have to be on the dashboard. my mistake lol
