Why do people feel like they have to discriminate against homosexuality? Is there a real reason? Do people just do it because others do it? What brings a person so low that they can't accept a person enough to have to resort to hate?
I don't know the answers to any of those questions. I'm not even sure if the gay bashers do. The point is, everyone is human, everyone is different, and EVERYONE is flawed. Is it really their fault? Would people have such a problem with homosexuals if they knew it wasn't a choice?
I see sexuality-related-hate as an offense in the same category as racism. Can someone control what they were born like? Could you control your gender when you were born? Think before you speak, and please try to be a little more open minded.

Thank you. Any comments?

All I can say is dito. If a person is lucky they won't end up in a place or school that dies discriminate. My school doesn't and I'm lucky for that. There are a lot of gay people there. People need to realize that the last year of the decade will be here in a few weeks and they need to understand there are more important things in life. Almost 2010 and people are still hating. It does need to stop

Difference.

It. Is. NOT. A. Choice.
Sorry, that bothers me when people say "...if they knew it wasn't..."

No, we can't control our birth gender.
We can't control who we love.
We can't control how our brains are.

We can control our attitudes towards others who aren't the same as us.
Think before you speak. More need to have heard that

I hate it. Absolutely hate that people are like that.

My girlfriend and I go through a ton of stuff every single day with people being nasty to us.
Did anyone else hear about the "Kill the Homosexuals" bill in Uganda?
That's the type of stuff we don't need.
No one understands the fact that it is absolutely not a choice.
But this world makes so many people hide in fear of being who they are.
And it's just plainly rediculous.
I'm so happy to be who I am, because I've learned that so many people are just ignorant.

Just to clear this up, I am completely aware that homosexuality is not a choice. I was just wondering if people would hate less if they knew that homosexuals don't choose to be homosexuals.

By the way, thank you for all of your comments :).

I thinks that's the way it is in most schools all over the world. People spew anti-gay comments and saying things like "that's so gay", and it really spreads. Not good.

Gonna throw in here that it is the same as racism. In the USA, anti-discrimination laws have racism and sexual preference specifically mentioned side by side.

US states also have the anti-gay hate crimes state-by-state, so if one state has laws, that doesn't mean others do.

There is no point to that type of hate, or any hate for that matter. Someone needs to see you sad to be happy. Simple, dont pay attention to it.

While you're right, there's NO need for the hate
Ignoring it isn't going to help. Ignorning things doesn't make them go away, it just makes the abuse continue, and get worse.

Despite that having a good point, and ignoring won't always work, it can. Now personally if that was happening to me, I would punch the person or something, but do you think I would say that here? As something I want to add on, this stuff will NEVER stop, the military has rules about this stuff. If it would stop, the world would be a better place.

Of course it'll never stop... With that attitude.

People discriminate towards other. It will always happen, people aren't always going to be so nice to each other. I have a problem with people who make a big deal out of something, when they are called gay when they actually are. I mean you know your gay so what is the big deal of someone telling you are? I do not condone discrimination. All I'm saying is just be mature and move on and do not blow it to massive preporsitions.

... there will always be someone. its impossible to take away the thought from people, personally, and with a lot of you out there, it woiuld be great. but we are not able to stop ppl from thinking or saying things.

A friend of my dads who is a sociologist explained it to me. I don't remember the whole thing but apparently it has something to do with group protection. This doesn't just apply to homosexuality but also stuff like crime, tribes, or any minority. One group tries to set standards and dominate. Anything that breaks the normal group must be destroyed. Groups apparently bond over smashing the little guy, so become stronger and survive.

If you think about it, in the grand scheme of things it wasn't too long ago that we jumped out of trees. A lot of our early behavioral are still genetically built into us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's the right thing to do, but that's the reason I was given and I think it makes sense.
