as a guy, i think underwear is good. it holds the personal part(when i don't wear underwear, sometimes my penis takes shape through my pants). and also, i get erected a lot(about 3-7 times a day) and the underwear helps(note:i wear briefs) the erection not be seen. it just makes my penis extend downward(and it sometimes reaches 6 inches). I think underwear is necessary for a guy.

Underwear are first of all meant to protect the clothes you wear from any kind of discharge you'd have, be it urine, semen, what have you. Secondly, they provide additional warmth, thirdly they provide support and finally for comfort.

I would add to this post that the reality is the genital and anal areas are places which are major parts of the body's excretory system. As a result, the residual semen, urine, or other material which may work their way out of you certainly can stain clothing especially if what you are wearing is something nice. Also, keep in mind that some garments are not the best to rub against the genitals such as jeans which are pretty course material and can cause undue friction. With the sweat that is generated in the genital region it can definitely make its way into your clothing causing them to get quite a bit of odour. Underwear enables you to wear the same garment again while the undergarment is left for the laundry. It is far easier to wash undergarments than it is clothing items like jeans, shirts, etc.
