So today the Qwest connection will be hooked up, and even without the request they sent a new modem (will admit it is better then the old blue ones).

so should i set it up standing or laying on side?

Most times *here* in the booklet that would come with it will tell you the best way. But I dont see the problem with it being either up or side. As long as it has a good airflow and doesnt get too hot.

It's up to personal preference bro.
I personally like modems to lay on their side, it's just me. And wireless routers standing up on their side.
So.... Do what you think looks best.

I would put it laying down. Looks more sleek and like it takes up less room.

standing up, usually you orient it withe the words as that is how it was designed to be used

having it vertical gets more air to all the fans in the router so less likely to cause overheating. but specificaly that model looks better horizontal.
