Good job, you used a crappy speed test site that gives inaccurate results. I have something like 7-10mbit down and it gave me less than 2mbit.
Using speakeasys servers (they rock):
Firefox: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/omgwtfbbqh4x/firefoxspeakeasy.jpg
Avant: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/omgwtfbbqh4x/avantspeakeasy.jpg
I used the Atlanta Georgia server both times.

Ah yes, I find this quite funny actually... Some sites use pictures, some use text, some use raw code. All tests aren't the same. For instance, when I tested FF and Avant Browser on Cory's beloved testmy.net, FF received a score of 5% under the average speed for my host, while Avant Browser received a score of over 15% better than the average speed for my host. Both tests used the smart test.
Obviously, from that alone, I can conclude that Avant Browser is superior to FF. :) But, just for the sake of it, let's show off some of FireFox's flaws. View this page in Avant Browser (or Maxthon or IE) and then view it in FF (or Mozilla). http://www.fred.net/dhark/demos/css/css_filter_examples.html
Love it ;)

It's impossible to measure the differences between mine. Here's what I got:
Rated at 144kbps/144kbps (Up and Down) IDSL (Crap)
In Windows:
Opera: 83.593s (134kbps)
Firefox: 82.969s (135kbps)
IE: 82.907s (135kbps)
Avant: 83.125s (134kbps)
Linux:
Opera: 84.369s (132kbps)
Firefox: 83.614s (134kbps)
They're way too close to tell. Any slighest activity on my connection could make the difference between these. I know Opera beats the crap out of most/all of these browsers on average loads, for me, just from experience. So, I can't see how it's getting the worst each time. It's just chance. I get the same basic speed out of any browser I use anyway, especially with the test I did, which was the last one (Just 1.4meg image). I wanted the largest test so any little mishaps didn't mess the entire test up.

I dodn't remember my results but my ISP was the second fastest. However, it wasn't on the list, I'm in England. It's weird, Safari, Konqueror (KDE's browser) and Firefox all got roughly the same for me. Firefox, I believe was the fastest and Konqueror the slowest (just barely kile a couple of KBs below Safari. I know they use the same rendering engine but that can't be it...).

Thanks for getting off topic kiros. This is about speed, not css interpretation.
Run the speakeasy test and post results.

Heh, my bad Cory, I took the test and screen shots, but I forgot to post them :P Here they are (both tests were from Dallas, TX):

Avant Browser rules over the browsers, while FireFox fails. That was with that Faster Fox extension... It's kind of sad, really (or not ). I hope you're satisfied.
Oh, and as an add-on, I'd like all FireFox users to go to this link: http://www.fred.net/dhark/demos/css/css_filter_examples.html
It shows what FireFox is capable of - which isn't that much. You can open that page in Avant Browser, Maxthon, Internet Explorer - they all will appear correctly, while FireFox can't even hope to do so. Pure satisfaction :)

Yes, but then again, our internet is unlimited :) What's your package give you? 40GB a month?
renewedflame
May 14th, 2006, 01:24 PM
80GB A Month.
Kiros
May 14th, 2006, 01:32 PM
Ah, 80GB... That's about 2.6GB each day spread among the month. Considering I download more than that each day with my current 3mb speed, I wouldn't survive :P Oh, and is that limit for overall traffic, including upload, or just download? I host FragHouse Invasion (a mod of UT2004) so I couldn't last at all if there was an upload restriction...
By the way, Cory, check your PM Inbox. I sent you a message a couple days ago and the read-receipt is still unconfirmed.

That's really good for free... I used NetZero back when it was free - didn't even have decent 56k though. Now, I don't think there are any free ISPs (even for local areas) in the states.

i think AOL is the only unlimited ISP around here, but AOL (Arseholes On Line) is total crap and takes over your computer with their crappy software
