She's liked me for 3 years, but one of us has always been occupied with a relationship, or been at each others throats. Finally we're both ready, but now my past stands in the way. She thinks my sobriety, that it's too good to be true. Its been 5 months, no weed. 3 months, no booze. She doesn't believe that a) it'll last or b) that it's true. How can I prove to her that I haven't nor would I smoke or drink with, or without her?

if she cant trust you then its gonna be a bad relationship from the start
she should take your word for it
not demand evidence

She's clingy and demanding. If she won't believe you then there's no trust to build a relationship on. It will crumble like a house of cards. </3

sadly their right. If you can't trust your partner's word, that is ine relationship that is bound to fail. You tell her that, and tell her you don't have to prove anything, and if she doesn't believe you, then its her fault things couldn't work out.

I can understand why she would act like that because dating someone has has drank or done drugs in the past or while you were dating is something really hard to deal with especially if it goes against your personal beliefs. Just sit her down, look her straight in the face, and just promise her that you're sober now and you'll remain that way and that you just want a chance to get back with her so she can see it herself. If that's not enough then there's no use trying because she won't trust you.

I'm just going to reiterate what that lot said. If she can't believe you, it's doomed from the start.

Her disbelief of your sobriety and your seriousness in staying sober show that she doesn't trust you on a very basic level.
Without trust, relationships fall apart.

Like everyone above me has said: A relationship needs TRUST.
The #1 key to any type of good relationship is Trust, and anyone should know that.
The relationship won't work out if she can't take your word for it, so I would recommend finding someone that will fully trust and accept you.
