does anyone else suffer from constant headaches?

i have had headaches constantly for about 2 years now, and the WONT go away.
it is almost 24/7 365 days year (even on christmas day and new yearsday) and i am SICk of them...
i have been to the Dr and they cant do anything...

so does anyone else suffer from this?
can you recomend anything to help ease the pain (that does NOT envolve going to the Dr)?
and how do you cope with it (if you suffer from the same)?

thanks to all who reply. you can PM me if yyou want...:woot:

My step sister has "headaches" the reason for the "" is that everyone knows shes faking them except for her dad, he thinks they are real...

anywho, her saying she always has them, the docs got concerned and did CAT scans, Xrays, etc.

So they mite need to do that with you

(im not suggesting that you are faking, just saying i know what happens if the doc thinks they are that bad)

Ibuprofen is the best for headaches but I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to be on it 24/7

I wish I could give you advice.
But truthfully, I had constant headaches for like two years or more.
And they just vanished, as soon as they began.
I really don't know what changed.
They're just... gone.
But as far as what you're going through, I'm very sorry, because I know exactly how you feel. ):

do you have your ears pierced by chance? my dance teacher had headaches for a long time and it turns out that she was allergic to the metal in her earrings. its possible... maybe it could be signs of a tumor? (not trying to scare you) or you could suffer from migraines? or you're allergic to something else. it could be a number of things. I suggest going to the doctor for test or asking for prescription pain killers. but talk to your doctor more.

See a doctor again!

The only way to really find out what's going on is through a CAT scan.

It could be stress like you said, it could really be anything, headaches seem to be so common.

You've been suffering from these WAY too long to ignore them anymore.

Then see a different doctor, if possible.

Tell them exactly what's been going on, for how long, and that this is the last straw, you feel like you need a solution now.

yea i know but it isnt that simple LOL WHY?

Well... because I dont live in the UK or an english speaking country so it is harder to get your feelings, the pain you are going through, etc, to the doctor so they understand!

Plus my doctor is the best in my town, she is one of the best!
They cant do anymore for me, I am sure of that!

Thanks for the advice though verry verry much welcomed, thanks!!

My pain is located in my forehead. You could have migranes.

woody92
January 3rd, 2010, 06:23 PM
yea it could be that. What do you do/take to calm it down so it dont hurt as much?

You probably have allergies, Migraines are so painful. You wouldn't be on a computer, you would not get up. You'd be in the darkest coolest part of your house. I would know I get them all the time.

Believe me, you're not alone. I've had constant headaches for about 4 years now. There isn't much you can do, I've pretty much learned to live with them. Sometimes i have "good days" where the pain isn't there or it isn't bad. But more often than not i have "bad days" where the pain is horrible.

Been to the doctor, never got a diagnosis. They gave me pain meds but nothing works. At one point they prescribed vicodin because the pain was so bad, but they refused to give me refills because they thought i would become 'addicted'.

Try Ice for 15 minutes or until you feel numbness, remove the pack for an hour and reapply. NEVER use HEAT when you are in pain. It can feel good when the heat is applied, but afterward it inflammates the nerves further and you'll be in even more pain. Also never alternate between ice and heat as this can confuse your body and cause further pain.

Did you have any sports related injuries to your neck, back or head before the headaches? If so you may need a CAT scan or MRI to make sure you don't have any serious injuries such as a herniated/bulging disc.

Thanks very much for your post, I might try the ICE thing!
No I didnt have any injuries at all before they started. I have been to the dr and they wont do a CAT scan nor a MRI.

Thanks again, and welcome to VT btw!

ok, most likely you may have agrowing tumor in your brain. Im not trying to scare you, but just go to the docs and talk to him/her about it, its really not that bad. If it is a tumor, the longer you wait to deal with it(most likely surgary or meds) the worse it will get.
It can also be that there is something wrong with your immune system. Every nerve in your body is connected to a body part, example, where girls get there cartilages pierced, the nerve there links to your arm. It may be that abody part, that links to your brain, there is something wrong with it.
It may also be something very simple. Just get it checked out, doctors dont bite! lol

No. Not likely.

I can't believe that no ones suggested this problem yet.
Do you wear glasses? If not then you might need them. I had headaches for about 2 years, I went to my doctors and she suggested that I go to the optitions and when I went the guy give me really weak glasses. Now I don't have them any more.

It could be that you just need glasses.

Most headaches from the side of your head are tension headaches, I used to get bad headaches too, and get them randomly, it somehow went away or decreased in frequency when I started being more active.

Either that or something in your house is giving off large electro magnetic fields which have been known to cause headaches.

You are most likely getting some form of mild migraine, and yes, they are bloody painful.
Try taking some aspirin when you get one, or see if your doctor will prescribe you a medication called "Imitrex", it's made specifically for easing the pain from a migraine, though it never worked for me. :p

Since it's a brand name, the name won't be changed. ;)
Only generic-type medications should be translated to a different language.
But brand names will stay the same.
(Think, Coca-Cola, or Pepsi, or Microsoft, ect)

constant headaches are not good. You should probably consult a doctor soon, it could be a serious condition.
