but nah, my PC is great. I dont use that much space, so the 40 GB is fine right now, and I have a great motherboard with an A socket, so no way am I going pentium. Besides, its plenty of enough power for me :D
All I really need is more ram and my GCard. :)

March 18th, 2005, 04:01 AM
ooo a privacy screen? what does it do?
Whisper
March 18th, 2005, 04:22 AM
It means you have to look directly at the screen inorder to see anything if you look at an angle its either black or really fuzzy, it makes it so only the person at the computer can see whats on there screen.....Gets rid of the peeping toms

What's so special about RDRAM? It's only PC600. I need that PC1066 or whatever it is.
I should get a SATA drive, but I haven't gotten around to it. I've been saving up for a new computer.
Why's my SCSI drive so small? Because it's just a drive I got from my computer class last year. And, it's the only SCSI drive I have, so, since it's not IDE, I can use it, since my IDE slots are all filled.
I did use it as a little storage drive. Then, I installed Linux on it, then I installed Longhorn. There's only like 350 meg free with just Longhorn on it.

an online store maybe?

I was given a PIII Dell Percision Workstation 420 last year in my computer class, for helping out with the computers on several saturdays. That computer had 512 meg of that RDRAM in it. I got another computer this year, (my main computer) which I traded another computer for, which used the same type of memory, and had 256 meg of RDRAM already in it. So, that took it to 768meg.
Hey, Kiros, what's so good about RDRAM? Maybe I should look it up. I never really did. I know it's a lot better then that old PC133 SDRAM I used to have, but beyond that, I have no idea.
an online store maybe?
Nah. Any times I looked online for that type of memory, it was really expensive. I wouldn't even think about trying to buy it.
The memory sticks look weird. The two sticks of 256 have silver metal around the outsides, and the two sticks of 128 have blue around them, and they get really hot.

well, ive heard by some users that RDRAM can actually process memory better than DDR (though not DDR2). Its not used by many ppl though. I know i cant ever find it :?
yeah, its probably duel channel...

Hmm.... I know it seems to be pretty quick in any computer I put the memory in. That PIII I had the ram in before ran REALLY well. Of course, it has two processors, but even after the second cpu broke, it still worked pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised if it handled memory better then DDR.
I see someone on ebay has 1gb of that stuff up for a bid of 215$, with 27 bids. I'm glad I didn't have to buy the stuff.

Yay. I just got my new laptop today. Well, I got it on April 1st, but it had a defective video card, and I called yesterday, and a new one showed up today. Pretty fast. I just gotta send the bad one back. That's pretty good service. Only spent like 10-15 min on the phone too.
Laptop:
eMachine M6811
Mobile AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2GHz, 1600MHz FSB)
512Meg DDR 2700. (I'll upgrade to 1gb or 1.2gb sometime)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (64meg, but works better then my 128meg 9200 for my desktop)
80GB HDD
DVDRW Drive
15.4" Widescreen
Builtin Wireless (802.11G)
Touchpad Mouse.
6-in-1 media reader
4 usb 2.0 ports
firewire port
Svideo Out port
Modem
Reg. Network card
Windows XP Home (I'll be upgrading to Pro in a few hours)
Pretty good. Only $1149 on Tigerdirect.com. That's pretty good for the specs this machine has. eMachine actually makes nice laptops. Runs really nice.
