MRIs are able to see the softer tissues of the area of examination. Sometimes contrast dyes may be added to give more contrast but it's not always done with it. You'll have to change into a dress robe thing in a change room and then lie on the bed of the MRI. After the instructions are explained, this device will go over your face that looks like a tight hockey mask and you're given ear plugs. Depending where the scars are and how the gowns are, they may see the scars. You have to have your arms at your side or crossed and so if they're on your wrists, then you can conceal it that way. If it's on your thighs then the gowns tend to cover that area.

Since it's your knees they will probably but you in a large tube and ask you to not move...hope you're not clausterphobic! But seriously, if there is anything wrong with your knee the doctors will be able to see it with that very precise machine...You'll also have to remove jewelery since an MRI is essentially a giant magnet.
