so where i live the generally accepted term for underwear is boxers i.e. the teacher tells a student to "pull up his pants nobody wants to see your boxers"
i was wandering if there is a place anywhere where the standard is something else?

Well of course. Boxers are only one type of underwear for a start and shouldnt really be used as a more generic term. But in the UK, so in true english, "pants" are underwear and the other things are trousers.

boxers are the silky shorts that are underwear, undies are briefs and everything else is just normal ... either that or I just don't think about it. (Sydney, Australia)
