I just was diagnosed with depression. I'm having such a hard time with it. Does anybody else have any advice on dealing with depression or on finding a therapist? Any anti-depressents that work in teens well?

Umm Dealing with depression is a very tough thing to do and is often different for different people. Best thing you can do is give yourself credit where credit is due. You are dealing with somthing really rough and you are surviving. Try not to be anti social a happy environment is a happy Heidi. Somtimes fitness helps keep your mind possitive. Surround yourself with caring people. Talk to your school for help with finding counselling. Remember depression isn't forever but you are. In some way shape or form your presence will be cherrished till the end of time :)

Why hasn't the person who diagnosed you given you information on therapy or where best to go from here?

SSRI anti-depressants tend to do more harm than good in teenagers - I'm not sure about any others. So it is often best to stay away from them.

Talking therapies work best with depression when combined with changes in your life that you make.

Keeping a good social life is sound advice. We all need our friends when we're feeling low.

SSRI's are linked with increased thoughts of suicide and an increased likelihood of successful suicide attempts in teenagers.
A public health warning was issued in 2004 about it

I don't have the greatest support. My parents don't want to believe it's depression, and my friends don't care. If thats what you even want to call them-friends...

I had major depression as a young kid, and my parents were always rather distant from me. And I had, like, no friends. Although I wouldn't exactly suggest it with vigor, I found a lot of friends and support on the Internet.

Biological depression (depression that is a result of a chemical imbalance) doesn't go away, you just suppress it. Take your mind off of what sucks and focus on something that's badass.
