I have had a total of 18 of my friends and family die in the past year and i am really depressed and I dont know what to do..I am too young for this kind of shit. And just the other day i was comming out of a house on a fire scene(i am on the fire department as a junior) and as i am walking out it collapses! I am now in a very confusing situation thinking if I died tommorrow if i lived my life to the fullest.

Please help!

Sorry to hear about your losses, Casey. I've been in your situation before, its the worst sort of pain kids of our age can go through. There isn't a magic solution im afraid, its just something that we need to try and help to become easier to manage with overtime. When my best friend died a couple of years ago, i turned into a completely different person purely due to my grief, but over time as i was helped, it became so much more easier to handle, Although theres never a day thats gone by i don't think of him. My advice to you, is to as you said, try and live every day to its fullest, and remember the good times you had with your family and friends. Maybe it would/could help if you sat down with a mutual friend of yourself and the people you've lost and have a good talk about things, for example, what your thoughts about it are, good memories, even bad memories. Im sorry im not much help with these things, although this is the best advice i can really give you.

If you need to talk about anything feel free to pm me, your welcome to anytime.

I suggest you take a break from firefighting because it might make you witness more of life's bad moments. Try finding something fun you like to do and do it. Try to look to the future and not dwell on the past. Remember you can no longer change the past, but the future is yours to make.

Icy roads are inevitable in North Dakota (and if you live anywhere near the Minot Air Force Base, you're going to run into horrible drivers...basers don't know how to drive on ice and cause MANY accidents a year...it's not good). Losing 18 people is pretty tragic. My sister got in a car accident last winter in Minot (of course last winter was just hell). Fortunately, she was ok, but the car was totaled...she and her husband had bought it the day before.

If you wanna talk about it, just PM me...I've lost a lot of close family and friends...

This must be incredibly hard for you, and I can't even imagine the emotional suffering you could be enduring.

The only suggestion I can give to is to seek a counselor or another close friend or family member to confide in order to help you through these tough times. It's only natural to grieve for the loved ones you have lost, but you can get through this with a little help and support.

Best wishes.

wow man im really sorry to hear that.
like u said, live ur life to the fullest everyday. its really the only thing you can do. remember the good times with the friends n family, and just live ur life. as for the firefighting....not sure. as noypi said, u might wanna take a break from it...but..if its what u love doing, and it helps you realize the value of life and stuff then do what u deem necessary. just know that I, among others here, are here for ya if/when you need it :)
