Hey,

I'm downloading a three part video and generally I can watch the first part before the others have downloaded.
However this time none of my media payers can recognise the format.
Realplayer, VLC and quicktime all say they either can't understand it or they need to download new software(which doesn't work still afterwards).

I just wanted to know if any of you geniuses know what to do, I'm waiting for the final part to download right now. But I'm not sure if it will work even when I have them all. I've never used this format thingy before.
Help please :(

.rar files are compressed files, not video files and very few programs can launch them without extracting them.

You can download 7zip which will extract them from http://www.7-zip.org/. It is easy to use and should fix your problem.

That's the problem really.
I already have WinRar. The files I've downloaded have came out as what looks like video files. So I can't extract them and I can't play them...

.001 files are parts of files you have to have a merging software to do it
http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

Just use that to merge the files and they should work.

So if you have extracted them, then they should not be in .rar format they will be in a video file format. A list of video formats can be found on http://www.fileinfo.com/filetypes/video

If your files extension does not match one of them, then that will be why it is not playing. What extension is your file showing as ?

Another possibility is the files are corrupt or damages, so they are unable to play, to fix this you could try to re download it then extract again.

Edit: Just saw the post above mine, that will be your answer I didn't notice your files are part of a series :)
