Lemme state first off that I promise I mean for this to be in the Sexuality section.
So, for the longest time I was having issues finding someone, anyone. I would begin to like certain guys, eventually work through the nerve and ask them out only to find myself rejected through pretty much every response in the book, ranging from, "No, thanks" to "... What are you talking about? I'm not gay. >.>"
And it came to a point where I'd more or less sworn off the whole idea entirely. Why bother, right? They obviously want nothing to do with me, why put myself and them through any more awkward trouble. And I remained there, perfectly content with it (more or less) for several weeks.
Well, all of a sudden I get a message and a friend invite from a boy on Facebook. He'd seen one of the shows at the theatre and had added some of the cast members. I'm more or less used to it, so I added him and talked for a little bit and turns out- he's gay. (Go figure) I told him I am as well, there's nothing to worry about.
I did the usual Facebook thing and checked some of his pictures and it turns out he's rather cute. (Again, go figure) And we sent a few more messages on Facebook so I gave him my number to text me. Conversations moved to there and eventually we made plans to hang out.
We hung out a few times, and I asked him if we could ever be together. Believe it or not, I got a yes. This past Wednesday was our first kiss, my first ever. And from that day we were official. It's Friday now and though I may not usually be the mooshy type, my phone is so filled with sweet little text messages the old me would have given myself a backhand from nausea.
And after all my issues, I've finally got a guy who seems everything I'd ever hoped for. He's cute, unbelievably sweet, playful, fits in amazingly with my friends, pays attention when I talk, and even the things that he didn't actually have, they've come about in other ways. Like it being both of ours first kiss- somehow, despite the fact he's had two boyfriends before, we both act as if we were on square one (which I am of course). We constantly seem to be thinking the same thing (it's usually innocent, I promise) and tomorrow will be our first real date at the Drive-In.
So for anyone who's feeling it's about time to throw in the date-hunting towel and was able to suffer through this long post, sooner or later, something will work out. It did for me, so it must be possible for anyone.
