Police release photofit of Russian train bomber
MOSCOW - Russian police are hunting at least two suspects after the Nevsky Express train blast that killed 26 on Friday en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg, police said Monday.
Police released a photofit of a man aged 50 to 55 whom they said was wearing a ginger wig and had a "pale-skinned face, like an albino." Another suspect aged 30 to 35 with a sporty build is also being sought, they said.
Investigators have also found a house close to the crime scene where the suspects may have operated, a source close to the investigation told Interfax.
"According to preliminary information, four people lived in this house for some days before the attack. The DNA of four people has been found, one of which is the DNA of a woman. We have reason to think that these people are linked to the attack," the source said.
Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of Pavel Kosolapov, who is already sought by police for an earlier attack on the same train which injured 60 people in August 2007, a security force source told Interfax.
Kosolapov, a former soldier aged 29, trained at a rebel camp in the Russian Caucasus and converted to Islam, Russian media reported. He is suspected of other attacks, including a train blast that killed 46 people in 2003.
The death toll from the crash reached 26 on Monday, up from 25 on Sunday, the Interior Ministry said. Two people are still missing.
The train crash took place soon after 10 pm on Friday (1900 GMT) when an explosive blast caused the derailment of an express train from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
The train blast was one of the most deadly terrorist acts in Russia of the last five years, excluding the unstable Caucasus region
