Ok, I am having a small problem with my 2nd Generation iPod Touch. I cannot install apps from the App Store on the iPod, and I cannot drag and drop them to it from my computer. I have reset, restored, and deleted all the apps and reinstalled them all over again already. I can only put apps on it by syncing them directly with my computer, which is a pain. Both iTunes and the Touch are updated to the latest firmware. The iPod is out of warranty, so I won't be sending it in for repairs.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this would be happening? It is really annoying, as I can't just download something from the App Store on my iPod.

That sucks...umm, try looking at your itunes account and see if there is a setting there that forbids you from downloading directly to ipod. I doubt that there is but its a good place to start looking.

Exactly what happens when you try to download something? Have you tried on a different network? it might be that the router you are using is firewalling the mobile app store. These are long shots.

If you are in a big city you could try taking it to a genius bar and seeing if they can just help you out there. That way you dont have to mail it to Apple. Not sure if there is a charge or not for that service though.

It will download without a problem. Its just running it is the problem. But only if I download it on the iPod. If I download it on my laptop then sync it to my iPod, it is fine. There is an Apple store about 20 miles up the road, I might go in there if I'm in the area.

How strange...can't think of anything :( I hope you can get it working again.

Wonder.

Does it start opening and then all of a sudden close?

Yep that's exactly what happens. I'm probably taking it in to an Apple store tomorrow to see if they can do anything.
