If tomorrow I wake to the sound of the morning doves
I will wake with desire stretched across my face.

I will smile for awhile, like a candy-store child,
But when I see that the licorice sticks are all gone,
I’ll pout, my lips quivering, like a child who’s candy deprived.

I will exit the store, my fists clenched real tight,
And I’ll bang my feet on the ground just to show off my might.
And just as I do, a crow will swoop down
And steal my blue cap as I fall to the ground.

I’ll cry in the snow banks, I’ll flood the street with ice tears,
The road will read “slippery when wet” and the teens, they’ll jeer
At the sign of a road where the pavement ain’t perfect
Where the cars are aslide and the signs all read bullshit.

And just when all hope will seem have to gone
I’ll open my eyes and see white, cold and strong,
I’ll freeze in my stance, and I’ll continue my glance
As my eyes start to melt with the snow,
The sun, the sun, the sun is aglow!
